So Dooley's OC from the dark days of UT?? Talk about bad omen....

Can't remember who it was, but someone on here or FSF actually speculated about Chaney based on FlightAware stuff, earlier in the week.

Have a hard time giving credit for seasons pre-2005 when we just fired a head coach who was great pre-2005. Not saying it's entirely invalid, but you can see where that's a tough sell.
Additionally, giving him credit for Drew Brees is like giving Gus Malzahn credit for Cam Newton. Maybe Eason is the next Brees, but odds are not exactly in his favor.

a very mediocre hire
Disappointing considering this was his key hire IMO

This feels like the Schotty hire. All these great names, we have bloomgren/Sanford about to come and then out of nowhere we hire a leper that has fans from their past teams rejoicing that he's gone.
What an incredibly unimpressive past few days

Therefore, the combined offensive coaching hire is a solid B or B+.
You can't fricking look at it like that.
Pittman is an A.
Get an A OC.
Then it is a solid fricking A. frick Chaney, get Sanford rather than the old fat frick.
I am on the record, don't like it at all.

I googled Pitt articles when he was hired there and they had a similar reaction. Some trying to polish the turd as many here will do I'm sure. This is not exciting in any way. His results at arky were not impressive.

Tyler Bray really thrived in his system. They bent our studded NFL team over in 2012. Don't think he really meshed well with Beliemas offensive philosophy.... Or maybe there wasnt enough gravy to go around.
Could be a good hire, given the OL hire lol

I love the Pittman hire, I'm very doubtful about the Chaney hire. I hope we are wrong.

If true, this will be one of the most underwhelming UGA hires ever with such a high ceiling of candidates possible.
So we lose Mark Richt and essentially trade DCs with Bama and hire this lard butt. Wow please if this is not enough to fire Mcgarity I don't know what will be.
There is no way to polish this up its worse than the schotty hire IMO.

Agreed on Pittman. All the dude does is produce top O-lines. Was looking at the stats and overall, impressive.
On the Chaney hire, I think the most meh thing about it, is that no one is going to be knocking the door down to get him. Unless he produces the NCAA's next greatest offense, he's not going to be in the conversation for HC gigs, no real reason to leave UGA for a lateral move. So that puts UGA and Kirby in the untenable position of possibly having to fire him in a few short seasons if he can't produce.

Well, look on the bright side.
That should seal the deal on Eason.
For Florida.
That just became a real, real easy decision.

Are we sure Pittman is not Grantham's strung out twin brother? lol

This. I seem to recall a good number of games where it seemed the D was just rolling over. Murray and the offense willed that team to win in a lot of cases. Florida and Auburn being the biggest exceptions (IIRC the defense played well for those).
