You have moved your goal posts yet again, this time for complaining of actions in January to February. I am giving you evidence, of a very large organization that is responsible for fighting for the rights of all citizens, being pissed at Trump administration for actions he took in February. Now where do you want to dance? Should we talk about March and how the hospitals Trump had built or shipped are empty? Should we talk about how he lifted liability for a private company to produce more N95 masks and has now initiated the DPA to ensure they stay in the US? Where is the shortfall?
Bringing up his terrible month of February is will within the goal posts of trump mistakes.
I dont GAS what the ACLU said pm 2/6 because its irrelevant to Trump's inaction.

He should have invoked P! a long time ago. Better late than never though.

Has any hospital actually ran out of PPE?
It's a yes or no question.

Dont know, but many are conserving it to unsafe levels because there is no guarantee for future shipments.

Let me help you out here.
1: You do know. There are multiple healthcare professionals posting in this thread (nurses and doctors and support staff) that have said they haven't ran out of anything. Some said they don't even use the shite anymore because if it's everywhere in your hospital the mask doesn't do shite.
2: There is a guarantee of future shipments. You screamed it across the Great River yourself. The deliveries are guaranteed now, but you are mad it wasn't done sooner with "P!".
What do you have to say for yourself?

What does P! mean to you? You keep invoking this.

It follows from what you wrote that there are posters in this thread who've tested positive. I must have missed that. Who are they?

No, it doesn't.

You miss alot of things. It's ok. Don't stress about it.

They are here to help you. They are friendly. We just want what's best for you. Please don't make this harder than it already is.

1. I do not know how things are at every hospital. Neither do you.
2. You do not know if they are guaranteed. Stop lying. Until my facility gets that indication, and is then shipped its full requests, I am gonna have to disagree with you.

My next door neighbor is an E.R. doc at Texas Tech and he said they only have enough PPE to last another 9 or 10 days.
Also FEMA is projecting that New Orleans is going to be the first city where ventilator demand exceeds capacity, and that it will happen next Friday or Saturday. Although personally I think New York will probably beat them to that mark.
Scary times. Stay safe everyone.

US pushing 10,000 deaths. It’s going to take some time for this Chinese...yes fuking Chinese, virus to work through the global population. In the mean time, a million or more people will die. Our lives will change.

So what are we suppose to do? Stay shacked up, unemployed, and living off the government for the next 12-18 months until a “vaccine” is found?
No. That's not what I am doing. I am helping a buddy at his business with a project....but I am making sure I maintain a 6 foot distance from everybody. I go out and do work around the yard.
I go on the internet and find educational things to read, so I can use this time to educate myself in areas I am interested in.
That said I must admit that I am retired and have a pension and Social Security coming in, so I have advantages others of you do not have.
However, one thing that is helping us weather the financial aspect of this storm is out Emergency Fund. Dave Ramsey suggests people have 3-6 months of take home wages in a savings account for just such emergencies. Stuff like this and loss of job, car breakdowns, etc.

Sounds a lot like many countries we don’t like very much.
quote:Don't then. but don't complain and cry if you, your spouse, and children get Coronavirus. You can live your life, but still be smart.
We can’t let the government take all of our freedoms in the name of “safety”.
A group from the church I go to get together every Sunday morning on Zoom, and talk and worship. This way we get intellectual stimulation, and see our friends. BUT...we do it on ZOOM, from our own homes.

Italy has an older population but, in time, US deaths will dwarf those of Italy. I doubt that our mortality rate will be as high as Italy's but we have a much larger population.
US daily deaths exceed 1,300 and growing. Italy never came close to that many daily deaths. So far our fatality rate hasn't spiked too much because we haven't exceeded hospital capacity.
Even with limited testing, US cases are more than double that of any other nation. The curve of daily new cases continue to grow.
Unless there is a vaccine or a new effective treatment our healthcare system and economy are in extreme peril. It didn't have to be this way.
Your graph is, at the least, misleading (typical for fear mongers). Per capita, the US is 23rd in total cases and 19th in deaths. Many nations w/ socialized medicine ahead of us. In NY, the rate of cases and deaths is falling and recovery rate is up. Here in GA the # of cases and deaths is falling.
Sorry to be the bearer of Good News.

This isn’t realistic for most Americans, nor is it acceptable to have to burn through this savings due to a government-mandated shutdown.

That wasnt the question.
What does the defense production act mean to you?

The point of Dave Ramsey is that it is realistic for every American. But you cant wish for things like that to happen. It takes work.

What does acceptable have to do with it? Are you going to sue the chinese? Sue your neighbor? Sue your government?
How do you not accept the current situation?

I think I'm with you on a lot.
I dont like or want the federal government inhibiting the 1st amendment.
I dont like or want the states to inhibit the first amendment.
But that leaves the responsibility on me to take care of my family. Treat every grocery item like it has sars-cov2 on the packaging. Treat every mail package/parcel like it has the virus. Despite wanting to do repairs to my fence or paint a bedroom, I havent gone to home depot. It isnt worth the downside risk. Since the 12th, we have been treating the world like it is worse than what we know. And that allows us to spend time with parents who do the same.
Be smart and take responsibilities for the risks that we take/dont take.

Very few people paying rent in major American cities can afford to set aside that much.

I think the current situation is a boondoggle. In the absence of good information, politicians are making political decisions with devastating economic and social costs that will destroy the lives of far more Americans than would ever have been medically effected by this virus. They are making these decisions due to an American electorate that is scared and grossly ill-informed on their consequences and the relative costs of this response.
I do not find that acceptable.
Rainy day funds are for natural disasters, cyclical market downturns, etc. This is not anything like that.

So Whiznut, or DoesntknowJackShit, is this a credible source? You linked an article by a "Stanford educated scientist" and I want to know if the guy below is credible as well....
