I think it would be helpful if I cleared up some confusion that has emerged in recent days. Some have interpreted my evidence to a UK parliamentary committee as indicating we have substantially revised our assessments of the potential mortality impact of COVID-19.
This is not the case. Indeed, if anything, our latest estimates suggest that the virus is slightly more transmissible than we previously thought. Our lethality estimates remain unchanged.
My evidence to Parliament referred to the deaths we assess might occur in the UK in the presence of the very intensive social distancing and other public health interventions now in place.
Without those controls, our assessment remains that the UK would see the scale of deaths reported in our study (namely, up to approximately 500 thousand).

Trump team failed to follow NSC’s pandemic playbook
Near the end of that article an NSC official says that doc is outdated and was replaced after the Ebola scare. And that they’re following new guidelines. So the whole thing is BS.
But even then, the crux of that article was some journalists opinion and “unnamed sources” opining on how it wasn’t followed. You’re the quintessential hammer looking for a nail and there are no shortage of journalists willing to supply you one.

No. This is not the right way.

One day you're going to realize how big of a fricking imbecile you've been and look at your shite situation and wonder how you got there. In the meantime, please step on a rusty nail and stew like the bitch you are at Trump and me for somehow being at fault for it.

I think Sweden has it right but that approach wouldn't be feasible here. People would be offended that some populations were fine to be socializing and some weren't because that's our culture. And it wouldn't even be the vulnerable populations getting mad.

How'd you like to take about a $750,000 cut on $3M gross with about $2.2M in overhead? Much more and I'm going to have to start laying people off.
I absolutely understand the attachment to employees and their families.
But your current assets under management should be right at your 1/1/19 levels. Which means that your operating budget should be sound at your 1/1/19 levels.
From percentages, we are seeing huge swings. But from a chronological perspective, it isnt that uncommon to give back a years worth of returns. Anybody in the industry understands market fluctuations and volatility. If you've been in the business long enough, you've cut bonuses before. It is the industry that you chose. And it is an extremely lucrative one.
You sound like Clark Griswold where you already put the large downpayment on the pool and the room is closing in on you. You are healthy. You have a great business. You have people who care about you. Just keep perspective.

Forty-six percent of those tested were COVID-19 positive. That doesn't mean that 46% of the population is infected.

I say we use this opportunity to claim austerity and kick MiZzzou out of the conference.

Mizzou doesn't belong but I would miss images like this screenshot from 2014.

Exactly, didn't a bunch of people that tested go to the same 2 churches?

I think the funeral deal shows you how well the virus transmits in large groups like that. Not sure if there have been more deaths from those gatherings, but they had 3 last I heard and 36 in ICU, which was pretty disconcerting. I think this thing will ended up killing more than the H1N1 based on its ability to infect efficiently.

Exactly one month ago, two days before the US recorded our first coronavirus death it was obvious to me that the 2020 football season would never happen. I was confident that Trump would do almost nothing to protect our nation.
The experts aren't sure but some of them suspect that COVID-19 will be seasonal. If that's true the rate of infections will decrease in the Summer but they think it might grow again in the fall.
Seasonal or not, the 2020 football season is just a pipe dream.

As fast as it seems to move, assuming immunity is built after infection, I don’t see it lasting very long. I’m also pretty optimistic we will have a vaccine soon and a test for antibodies. It will still do plenty of damage before it is done, but I would not count out next Fall just yet.
