Right and that's why it was so important to the epidemiologists to have multiple sources for their test kits. If test kits were restricted to one source and that source failed the results would be catastrophic. The idiot who rejected the WHO test kits was HHS secretary Alex Azar.

You might be right. I read elsewhere that everyone passed the buck (CDC to FDA and back to CDC)

Didn't cut 1 penny of funding since he took office
The cuts started in 2018, as the White House focused on eliminating funding to Obama-era disease security programs. In March of that year, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, whose job it was to lead the U.S. response in the event of a pandemic, abruptly left the administration and his global health security team was disbanded.
That same year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was forced to slash its efforts to prevent global disease outbreak by 80% as its funding for the program began to run out. The agency, at the time, opted to focus on 10 priority countries and scale back in others, including China.
Also cut was the Complex Crises Fund, a $30 million emergency response pool that was at the secretary of state’s disposal to deploy disease experts and others in the event of a crisis. (The fund was created by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.)

Don't get my wrong, there are some very talented folks down there but way too many folks that are completely irrelevant.
Maybe next time try credible sources instead of BS conservative ones that fit your agenda.
I realize you conservatives want to obliterate every government agency, but you think we have agencies like that for reasons? Our testing for this pandemic has been a damn joke compared to much of the world, and our response a joke. Perhaps because we have a joke of a president who called this pandemic a hoax.

yet another agency in our bloated Federal Govt failed at its core mission at the worst possible time....just ike our security apparatus before 9/11 or regulatory body prior to the housing crisis.
Shocking.
Yep, and this time it was made worse by the president spreading misleading and damaging info to his religious followers.

We haven't cut 1 penny from CDC since DJT took office. Fid you even read my link? Here's my link again LINK
quote:
But here's the reality: the CDC's budget is now more than 7 percent larger than it was under President Obama's last two budgets. That is, the actual enacted program budgets for the CDC in 2016 and 2017 were both under $7.2 billion, but for 2020 the budget Congress adopted for it is nearly $7.7 billion.
These are raw numbers and GFY with "credible sources" bullshite.ALL those numbers listed are from the CDC.
LOOK at the charts on the link.THOSE ARE NUMBERS DIRECTLY FROM THE CDC!
WTF do you not understand about those numbers?

I've actually dealt with fed Govt agencies and I've seen the waste with 8A funding and the outright curroption with contract officers playing God
with multi million dollar proposals because of their fragile little egos.

Don’t waste your time RD. The party idealogues have been convinced by their handlers that Trump is responsible for COVID 19. I spent an hour on text with a friend of mine that was convinced Trump called CV a hoax...even though his own CNN article clearly said Trump called the narrative that he didn’t respond quickly as a hoax...not the virus itself.
After facing this fact he then said”...yeah but his stupid followers don’t know the difference so it’s his fault”. He moved on from one bullshite narrative to another.
You can’t argue with these people.

No Western liberal democratic country has been able to control this pandemic. Blaming Trump for this is a cope.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the Chinese for giving us yet another nightmare disease.

Trump said CV was no hoax
Again..from CNN...
It’s a great outrage point but not based on truth. You heard what you wanted to hear.

He didn't say the virus was a hoax. He was basically saying the way it was being weaponized against him was similar to the Russia hoax. That's what he was getting at. This is not hard.

lol That's been his shtick...it's right out of the Roy Cohn playbook: Accuse his opponents (more often than not, falsely) of using the tactics that he himself routinely employs.
That's the beauty of Trump. Almost anytime he is making an accusation, you can be sure that it is something that he has done, is doing, or is planning to do.
Trump's criticisms yesterday of how the last administration handled H1N1 were classic. Typical defensive (and irrelevant) response when asked about some things that had clearly not been handled very well early on with COVID19 response.
His claims were false and easily debunked but he could care less, because the people he's messaging are those he knows will still support him even if he "stood in the middle of 5th Avenue and shot someone," as he famously put it.
Trump's response is the same on every issue: He's doing a much better job than anyone else ever has or ever could.
Three years ago, I figured that Trump was a comical but well-meaning showman who liked to rile people up and might actually make progress in cleaning up DC. Now I just see a megalomaniac with authoritarian tendencies...and more corrupt than anything DC has ever seen from EITHER party.

Whatever dude... results don't lie. Fact is every organization makes mistakes early on when a significant challenge hits it. No administration is immune from that. However, it's how you respond, how well you can stop the metaphorical bleeding and the results. So far, and it's too early for a victory lap on CORVID but by any measure this admin is performing better than the previous administration did with similar outbreaks. But to listen to the media, you'd swear there are people dieing in the streets. Yes he uses hyperbole like a master troll. Not my style. But the media and the left have been playing dirty pool for too long and finally there's a set of cajones in the oval office willing to call it out.

France, Italy, Singapore, the Philippines, SK, Spain are just some of the countries under essentially Martial Law. It is pretty clear we are well past politics on this. Throw in Iran and China who live under what we would think are martial law type practices. Whatever this thing has got, people in the know seem to fear it. All these organizations are not closing because they are scared. They were told to and Trump has not intervened. That should tell you a lot.

Stop trying to compare this to 2009. It’s 2020.
The difference here is we saw this coming. We had a heads up to use a head start, and we chose to not use it to prepare for the incoming invasion.
