“I look down the field …. I try to figure out my problems before the play snaps, so I’m not worried about the rush, I know my linemen have got me,” said Stroud, who was sacked only eight times this season, fifth-lowest in the nation.

“I’m not really back there worrying they will pick them up or not, as long as I give them the right ID and make the protection call right.”

And, should the likes of Jalen Carter, Robert Beal or Mykel Williams slip through, Stroud has a polished enough pocket presence to know what to do.

“If it’s coming from the outside, I’ve got to step up,” he said, “if it’s coming from the inside, then I have to push back or step to the side.”

Let it loose

Damn wish we had Nolan still.

Hope we make as much Dec progress as we did last year.

Yes, the edge pass rush is definitely a concern. Hopefully Carter can continue to make a big impact.

It depends on how Ohio St tries to attack UGA.

But if they get in the habit of "flinging it", I like our interior pass rush with Carter, Bear/Brinson, and Williams on one edge with a combination of Smael/Bullard/Lassiter as that 4th rusher.
If they are committed to the run, it will be much tougher to get immediate heat on stroud.

They're down their 1st and 2d string RB. That's going to be a tall order for OSU.

If a team can get 3 yards per rush, they can prevent us from creating obvious passing downs and they can continue to run enough to slow down our DL pass rush.

That is all they need to help setup a passing game against 4 and 5 man pass rush.

What a wise sage

Next thing he'll tell us is that it's best to get rid of the ball before the rush arrives.

Sounds line Hutson Mason and “let it rip”. We saw how that went.

Marvin Harrison is a real concern for me. The rest of their WR corps can be covered man to man. Will we try to contain Stroud and make him beat us through the air? He isn't a running threat so a strong rush should make him have to hurry his throws.
They cover TEs and RB running routes well so our WRs have to make some plays. Mitchell, Jacksaint, and Ladd are the keys to our offense being successful. If we can hit a couple of long balls early it will free up our run game.

I expect the same game plan they played against UM.

A lot of quick passes
