Bama went 14-0 in Cox's Sr season. Their QB had a very similar completion % , less TDs and less ints. He was a Heisman contender.

Greg McElroy didn't receive a single Heisman vote. How was he a contender?

My bad. You are right. He only was the QB for the team that won the National Championship that year.

I agree with PB here that Joe Cox was not as bad as advertised. He threw a lot of picks, that's true, but that's going to happen when you have to sling the ball down the field because you feel like you have to score on every drive just to stay in a game. The OL was miserable and, with the exception of the GT game, the running game was pretty middling. Joe Cox was never going to go down as an all-time great, but he doesn't deserve near the scorn that is placed on him by our fan base.

Wasn't Carlton Thomas the feature back that year? Poor ginger bastard.

...and if Cox was at Bama that year, he goes 14-0. The only difference is he gets laid slightly less...

I never disagreed with that sentiment. You said he would be a heisman contender, which I disagreed with.

We have all the pieces in line for 2016 and have a legitimate shot at a NC and Spurrier retires and SC's first call is Pruitt....

I was thinking about this the other day and conluded that Pruitt doesn't have it in him to be a head coach one day.

You gotta be able to kiss babies and shake hands all day, learn to become a CEO and not the "fiery coordinator" type and be able to manage an offensive game plan.

Some d-coordinators successfully make the transition from the energy guy to the calm CEO. Dabo Swinney comes to mind but he almost didn't make the transition in time because his hot seat was getting a little hot a few years ago.

Muschamp was going to be the next Lombardi but we all know what happened with him. I think if Pruitt knows himself and understands his strengths, he becomes the next John Chavis.

This. Peter Buck's 2nd post had a whole lot of truth. I remain incredibly critical of the ginger but he had a helluva lot more ability than Joe T and probably Mason.

Saw Pruitt the other day at UGA while picking my kid up from a camp. He was just milling around and the man looks incapable of smiling. Not unfriendly. Just serious. Very serious.

Dabo was never a DC. Hell, he was never an OC. He was a WR coach who got the interim tag when they fired Tommy Bowden 6 games into the season because he was likable guy and he could recruit pretty well. He basically won the job by beating Carolina. He also might be mentally retarded.

Spot on, and he keeps scheduling Auburn in hopes of getting the Alabama job when Sabam retires...no chance.
