Lambert has been over throwing receivers, while Ramsey and Bauta have looked sharp. The starter will be Ramsey. IMO.

Not done with installing the offense yet. Looks like it's going to be Ramsey though. Probably will know a lot more after the scrimmage on Friday and tape review Saturday.

Lambert said this stuff is really new to him. If he is as good as Ramsey, or better, he maybe starting by years end. He has the height and pocket presence that Shotty likes.

Ramsey ain't short, at 6'3".

What it comes down to, right now, is that Lambert is struggling with accuracy and velocity. Bauta is sharp but his timing has to be perfect on outside throws because he lacks the velocity to zip it and beat the DB. Ramsey, though, has been showing great zip and very good accuracy so far. The first scrimmage should tell us a lot as to how the coaches see the QB race. If Ramsey splits first team reps fairly evenly then maybe the coaches see something in one of the other guys or maybe they DON'T see something in Ramsey. If he's getting the majority of the first team reps in the scrimmage, though, then the QB race is all but decided.

The reason that there hasn't been a lot of news out lately is because the media session was cancelled one day due to rain and they were not permitted in on Sunday's practice. hard to report actionable intel when no one was there to see it. Any true insiders don't want to blab and lose their access to the program, either.

Ramsey has all the physical tools to play in the NFL.

How do you measure heart, desire, and playmaking ability?

Give me the guy that can will this team to a win. Heart and desire over looks good getting off the bus. We have had more than our share of "looks good" picks that fail to get it done. We talk finish the drill.... how about finding a QB that can finish the drill

Green, Staffy, Cox, Murray, Mason Hudson..... none of them had "it"

Let's find that guy.

Good to very good, but none of them managed to perfrom at an elite level consistently.

Green may be unfair but that 2002 UF game still has some stink on it.

Staffy left a lot on the table during his time.

Clock the ball Murray let it slip from his fingertips

I agree.

They may have made the NFL, or even broken long-standing SEC records. But none of them were absolutely perfect on every play. Unacceptable.

Please tell us, what exactly did Greene do to lose that UF game?

If he starts, it will be because he finally figured out the brain part of playing QB in college or the other guy didn't pan out.

His physical tools are the best we have had in a while other than Stafford.

Word from a former big name player is that we're in pretty quesitonable shape at QB. Bauta doesn't have a shot. The coaches WANT it to be lambert but he's been shaky thus far, and he said that Ramsey doesnt' even seem like he likes being out there. He also made it seem like whoever does start is only going to be one year anyway.

That's a scary postion to take because alot can happen in a year. Placing our future on a 2016 kid that could get hurt, flop or get a visit from the bagman 2 weeks before signing day isn't very smart.

I am a little surprised that we're strugging with all of these guys...were the coaches counting on Park to step up or are they just figuring out now that Bauta and Ramsey may not pan out?

I don't think it's surprising. We haven't really been in a position very often where we have to rely on an unproven underclassman. Look at our run of first year QBs:

01- DG. RFr who was a total unknown. Ended up very good of course, 2001 season was pretty ok.
05- DJ. 5th year Senior with a bunch of PT
06- JT. 5th yeaer senior with some experience. Had an ubertalented TFr behind him
09- JC. 5th year senior with game experience
10- AM. Talented RFr who struggled some as expected but did ok
14- HM. 5th year senior with some starting experience.

Fact is that in Richt's tenure it has been very rare for us to turn to an underclassman without much experience. Doesnt' really have much to do with Park IMO, and more to do with that's just how the numbers fell with QBs graduating.

Park was, by pretty much all accounts, the worst of the three options.

If Lambert's problem is overthrowing receivers, I'm not worried. It's his first week with a new program. He was a 60% passer with Virginia last year, and they were terrible. Give him Chubb/Michel/Marshall as a safety net, one of the top OLs in the country, and some confidence after a few weeks. He'll be fine.

If Ramsey really is not mentally engaged, then I don't want him in there. His only missing piece is the mental part.
