Aaaaand GO!
(I should clarify. What place do you think has the best barbecue? Like Fox Brothers has great appetizers, but their BBQ is average at best. Heirloom has some fantastic sides and mixes Korean influences well, but the actual BBQ is nothing special. I'm looking for where you all think makes the best BBQ.)

Around ATL it is Community BBQ on Clairmont. Sauces, meats, sides, all stellar.

My favorite is Shealy's in Leesville, SC. Best mustard based sauce I've ever had, tender pulled pork, and several excellent sides(stuff like creamed corn and other southern style vegetables that you don't typically see at a BBQ place). Definitely worth a stop if you're passing by on I-20.

Atlanta: Fox Bros and it isn't close
Outside ATL: Poole's BBQ in Ellijay

Bigun's is another good option in this area...directly off 515 in Talking Rock. Bubba Q on the other hand is some of the worst pulled pork I've had. They have tons of trophies in there, so I assume they're good at something else.

Mutts BBQ here locally is tremendous for the value.
If you wanna pay higher than average for fresh cut off the pig, The Smoking Pig in Pendleton, SC (About 10 minutes outside of Clemson) is the mother of all BBQ in the south.
ESPN has done taste of the town there and there's generally a line stretching out and around building if you care to wait that long.

Poole's? Been there twice and it's my second least favorite behind Walkers. Biggun's is far better up there.
Favorite:
Hudson's
Wallace's
Johnny's

You Fox Bros people need to try some other BBQ joints around ATL. It a not even a top 5 and it's not even close
ETA: I enjoy the atmosphere and been to Fox Bros a lot, but much better places around ATL as far as the food goes

Anyone tried Fat Matts in Atlanta? If so what are your thoughts?

We get it, it's cool to hate on Fox Bros. You are super edgy!
Opinions and stuff.
