Imma with Porter, love Wallace's, Hudson's and I'll add Evan's BBQ in Villa Rica
Those are my picks in the area as well. I also like Fred's in Lithia Springs and I like the Yellow Jacket hot dogs there. Evan's is the best of the bunch though.
I grew up on Melear's in Union City. I miss it like the desert misses the rain.......
Col. Poole's in Ellijay is the worst BBQ I've ever had this side of Sonny's.

I like Ga pulled pork better, but give me KC & Texas brisket, & Memphis ribs all day.

Memphis ribs
After years, I found the secret. Spray a little oil on them while they smoke, it will give it that little bit of a crispy bite and help form a true crust. Secondly, use a little MSG in the rub to make you drool on yourself while eating it. So good.

Never had KC brisket but Community Q has as good a
brisket as any I've had in Houston or Austin.

One thing disappointing about Nashville has been the trouble finding good BBQ around here.
Yeah you gotta go to Memphis. Our BBQ sucks for sure.

Living in South Carolina, Doc's BBQ (Columbia, SC) is my favorite BBQ spot. Actually is quite possibly the best BBQ I've had. I can't think of the name of the place, but outside of Savannah, maybe Brunswick, is a hole in the wall of I-95. Damn good food

This is a man who knows what he's talking about.
Daddy D'z has been my haunt for damn near 20 years. Love the barbecue and love the good people who opened it.
Pisses me off that they are moving locations. Gentrification is a helluva drug.
Up the road from me, in Dillsboro, NC, is Haywood Smokehouse. Best I've had since I moved out of the city - its my "Daddy D'z North" ... more cracker than soul, but damn fine. Spare ribs are out of this world and the sides are top-shelf.

Served on a lunch tray. They had a Melear's in Fayetteville but folks I talked to said it was nowhere as good as the original that the old man cooked up. Finding a BBQ joint like Melear's has become an obsession. Maybe it's just childhood nostalgia run amuck but like Bono sings "I'll still haven't found what I'm looking for."

Used to be a place called Bobby Rubino's Place For Ribs in Mayretta that served the best baby back ribs in the Milky Way Galaxy. Still have locations in FL I'm told. I'd give Jefferson a full-day guided tour of Atlanta for a plate of those ribs.

Don't know if it is still there, but Dean's BBQ in Jonesboro was my favorite growing up in Morrow. And also Piggy Back's BBQ between Stockbridge and Morrow on hwy 42.

It's time for another rib-off. We skipped it last year. Maybe skipped it the last two years.
