re: Most overrated restaurant in Athens

Cheap pizza is never overrated kind of like a bad bj.

When I was in Russell Hall, across the street, the $4.99 XL pickup special was pretty sweet. Open until 3 or 4 in the morning too. You were supposed to have a coupon for the deal, which they regularly confettied on campus, and they never asked for the coupon at pickup anyway.

They also had 25 cent draft nights and didn't care how shitty your fake ID was.

When I was at Russell Hall we used to grab a buffet and bring ziploc bags. Then once we were done eating we'd slide on out with at least next day's lunch in our pocket.

tried to go to last resort for dinner and brunch over the mizzou weekend and there were 3+ hour waits both times. this was expected and we had back up plans, but still gave it a go. we had a large party as well.

ended up eating at FIVE and south kitchen respectively and both were phenomenal.

that said, i will keep recommending last resort and will try to get in again next time im in athens.

it's not overrated to me, if that wasnt clear. as i said, im gonna try again next time. i think it's fricking awesome

Im with you on Last Resort it's good food but the line isn't worth it considering other places in walking distance just as good.

But yeah, I totally pissed my pants. Had to get my buddy to bring some fresh underoos and gym shorts. We just left the piss clothes in the bed of his truck while we ate.

I don’t think it’s overrated so much as it is over recommended. It’s still a good experience, just not worth waiting 3+ hours for (same as Mama’s Boy). Five and South are both excellent choices and rarely get recommended on the same level as Last Resort. The Place is really solid, as well. For my money, I’d probably recommend a few places in 5 Points for an actual dining experience (and not 5&10 as has been well documented in this thread).
