I’m quite sure Herbstreit never thought this would be made public, but fortunately Dominic Raiola isn’t very good at keeping secrets. This is grossly unprofessional on Herbstreit’s part given his influence and position in the sport.

Hell he manipulates the playoff selection committee too. Why not tamper with recruiting. Wonder how many Ohio State families he has contacted over the years.

Who thought that Raiola was going to actually come to UGA?
When he changed high schools to play at Buford it was a signal that his commitment wasn't legit.
He may turn out to be great, but I get a Mitch Mustain vibe from him.

Been doing this shite for a very very very long time. I remember one of the big ones for me was his politicking for a rematch between OSU and Michigan when one of them didn't win their conference and then saying they shouldn't take Georgia because we didn't win the SEC and they ended up picking LSU who jumped us. He literally changes his takes to stance for whatever team he's pushing. He's fkign cringe.

I hate kirk and think he's a phony but just wanted to point out that was waaaaaay before a playoff commitee ever existed and the title teams were partially decided by computer formulas. He's a turd but I don't think he's to blame for that one. UGA fans might not want to accept it even 17 years later but we have no one ot blame but ourselves for that for losing to a mediocre as frick SC team at home and getting throttled by tenneseee. Come November/December we were playing better ball than anyone in america and I have no doubt we would've shellacked anyone we played in a bowl game. But that's why all the gmes matter...LSU was a 2-loss SEC champion and we were a 2-loss team that didn't even win the division. I hate the circumstances but I can't really blame kirk or LSU or anyone else for that. I'll prefer to blame mike moore and tony wilson instead.

A story like this is shooting his credibility all to hell. Where the kid goes and plays football is of no concern to Herbstreit.
Will the kid be a good QB at Neb? Who knows! When he bailed out at the last minute and signed with Nebraska I did not give it a lot of thought one way or the other.
Georgia will carry on regardless.

For some reason i don't give a shite. Getting worked up about gaining or losing a 5 star recruit is what fans of mediocre teams do. Not going to feign outrage.

Ohio State fans were convinced that Herbstreit was biased against Ohio State, so much so that he decided to move his family to Nashville. Non Ohio State fans think that he's an Ohio State homer. Maybe that just means that a lot of college football fans are irrational.

I don't think this was anything nefarious towards UGA, just more demeaning to Herbstreit's credibility or lack thereof.

In his Finebaum interview, he said, "When somebody calls and says, "What do you think of Matt Rhule..." alluding that Raiola called him.
At the very least, it was a poor lack of judgement on his part, especially in the line of work he's in. I could see where he just lost a lot of trust of college coaches everywhere.
