I thought you were turned off by his stats against certain competition... much like UF fans and ignorant SEC ranters.

I say we burn the heretic

WF Oline was terrible. We have the pieces top together an oustanding Oline. Curious how he will perform much better protection.

So was the DL's they faced in the ACC.
I'm optimistic about Newman, but I want to see how he fairs against a real SEC defense.

That’s not how it works. It was terrible in the acc.

Paraphrasing, fool.

I’m more excited about having him than the kids we have in or coming in. He brings experience and has a nice skill set. Gotta get some talent around him and work to his strengths.

3 of the four qb's in the playoff were transfers. If all the cool kids are doing it, we should too.

This may be true in a national spotlight, but it's all relative. He either *had* protection or he *didn't*... take a look at some footage and find me a game where he had adequate time more often than not... their right side of the OL was just horrendous. Not that the rest of it was "good"... just RT/RG were particularly awful from what I saw.
I'm also curious to see how he fares against SEC defenders, but I'm more concerned about his ability to read different coverages, adjust to faster DBs breaking on balls that might have been "safe throws" before.
Additionally, his TD/INT ratio was pretty poor relative to what we're used to, so really want to see that number improve for sure.

Be careful. I was dismissed outright for saying this same thing.

Exaggerating why?
No exaggerating at all. Ever since before he was announced so many had his dick down their throat like he was the second coming. Did he have good numbers? Sure, but not great. And before anyone says he did that with a poor supporting cast, remember that the defenses he faced are much lesser than that of the SEC (exception Clemson, of course) in talent, etc.
I truly hope I'm wrong. But I'm not impressed. Its the same as we've all said when hearing about how good an undefeated team is from a weak conference - who do they play?

You were dismissed outright because you're over inflating the bad... I get it, you're reacting to all the hype and being a contrarian.
I think it's fair to be in wait and see mode, but you don't have to be an arse about it either.
His mechanics look good. He had zero OL talent to help protect him. And for the final 4-5 games he was playing injured and without 2-3 of his best receiving targets...
In 2018, he took over for an injured Hartman and won 5 straight I think and took a pretty mediocre WF team to a bowl, so it's clear he's got talent, and we're better with him than without him... whether he wins the job or not.

To be better than Fromm =/= the second coming of Jesus.
