So due to some last minute circumstances I’ve been able to get a single ticket to the game. To save money (newborn and such) I’ll drive down and back day of and the part where you guys come in is here because once I hit Jacksonville I have no idea what’s what. Do they have pay parking? Bars? (Heard they closed some big chunk of them recently so I really don’t know) Any advice you vets could offer would help a lot.

I have only been once, but it was also as a day trip from Athens. Sort of. I drove to Sav the night before and stayed with an old friend, got up bright and early at 10am and drove the rest of the way. Parked in the first pay lot I saw, traffic sucked. Walk was long both ways but I only got accosted a couple times. The drive back to Athens that night sucked pretty bad too.

As far as bars, you probably won't have time for all that. Get a Carhardtt lunchbox cooler with a six pack of King Cobra and pound that on your walk to the stadium and throw the empties at cars with Florida regalia. Puke your warm foam directly onto the shitty streets of Jacksonville.

I live in Jax and I agree with Rig. Getting in and out of DT Jax this weekend is going to be a huge pain the arse. That is one of the reasons I stopped going to the game. Like Rig said, if you can get lucky to park in one of the lots right next to the stadium, thats your best bet. There is only one or two bars in DT Jax that is decent to go to but they are nowhere near the stadium. Jax does have some good restaurants but none that I know of in DT Jax. Wine Cellar in San Marco is good eats and there are a few good ones in Riverside too.

Got an early start on practicing this yesterday. Was leaving the grocery store and saw a grandma park a car with UF alum stickers all over it, so I dropped my groceries and ran back in and grabbed a case of Keystone.

After I got done pouring 25 stones on her car, I topped it all off by pissing the 5 stones I drank in her tank and putting the empties in the tailpipe

They closed down Jacksonville Landing, which was a godsend to the city.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're a college aged or slightly older guy looking to go get shitty with other similarly aged individuals, go to the bars at Jax Beach. If you're a little older, go to the bars at Riverside.

As for parking, it is going to be a mess. I'll be ubering up to the stadium in the morning. Downtown Jax's parking situation isn't great, to be kind. I live here but don't drive downtown often, so take this with a total grain of salt if you want: I'm guessing you're going to need to get down there by no later than 7ish on Saturday if you want to park there.

An out of the box idea would be to park at the airport and uber down to the stadium, but you'll need to make sure to not need anything out of the car once you leave.

You should find some parking NW of stadium. Look for people flagging you in. No great bars anymore. Just tailgate. If alone just be friendly and someone will take you in. As others have said traffic leaving sucks! We don’t go anymore as last time it took over 3 hours to get out of the gridlock.

Get there as early as you can obv.

At one point the Arena Garage had passes day of. The Landing area has some bars of course but I would just bring your beverage and walk until you found a tailgate that looks hospitable and jump in. We’ve had plenty of randoms join us over the years. The lots next to the baseball stadium will be full of opportunities as will the lots next to the John’s River.

No great advice on parking as that we've always had a tailgate lot.

I will say the Jacksonville Bulldog club does have a pretty good BBQ/pep rally pre kickoff.I believe it's in the WJCT building near the river...not a bad event to go to if you're by yourself (although it was much better in the amphitheatre) you should meet lots of friendly dawg fans and the food is pretty good. Probably around $25 at the door.

Be REAL careful about this. Don’t park at anybody’s place on Union Street or around those parts. They will take your money to park all day long and they will promise you won’t be blocked in when it’s time to go. They won’t be around when you do leave and if you’re in the wrong area, shite gets sketchy FAST. It may look fine in the daytime, but consider what your surroundings will look like after dark and make sure you’re not setting yourself up for an iffy getaway.

Don’t know if they still do it but used to be a set up somewhere near the courthouse you could park relatively close to 95 on ramp and the city would bus you to and from the stadium. Always made for a pretty smooth arrival and departure as traffic was concerned (only pain was having to hang out and wait postgame for a few minutes as they loaded and sent buses. 2015 got a little rough as gator fans saw busses full of UGA fans and decided to bang on the windows and a few drinks tried to pull the doors open and board).

ETA: It was at the Osborn Convention Center. Parked there for years and then met up with friends at their tailgates in Talleyrand near the stadium.

Looks like they still run something similar alrbott at different locations: LINK

Another option is to park on the south bank and take a water taxi over the river

I always park in the Annex Garage on East Bay St and S Ocean St. It's fairly easy to get to off of I95.

Bay St leads directly to the stadium and there are plenty of bars along the way.

Update: I really appreciate all of y’all’s help navigating what was intended to be my first cocktail party. Alas, I puteth my cart way before my horse. I am on call this weekend, which this time of year means basically nothing, but I can’t neglect it just in case someone important calls. It is what it is. I was really looking forward to it. Again, thanks y’all.

Man, that's a bummer you are on call. I was going to say on thing about the convention center. We went in 2018. It was nice to park there and fairly cheap. They had buses that ran every 30 minutes or so before the game. However after the game was a huge pain the arse. We had to wait over an hour for the bus back to the convention center. They had a huge line and buses only so often. I considered walking the 2.5 miles back but my wife was not up for it. Also didn't feel comfortable walking in downtown Jacksonville. Once we got back to the convention center it was pretty easy to get on 95. I was surprised at the lack of bars and spots to hang out in downtown. Overall there did not seem like much in terms of bars in the downtown area. The only thing I saw going on was the tailgating and parties around the stadium which were pretty huge. We went in school in the 90's and it was cool to hang out at the Landing. I really have no idea what kind of festivities are around the stadium after the game.
