It needs to be Mathis or Daniels going forward

Bennet is a good story, and we can win the rest of our regular season games with him. However, we can't beat Alabama with him as out QB.

If Daniels isn't healthy we really need to give Mathis another chance. He had 4 bad series against an Arkansas defense which has turned out to be pretty good. A bye week and with our next opponent being Kentucky would be a perfect opportunity for this.

Lastly, we should have kept running the ball against the Bama. Hopefully next time we stick with what works.

Until he transfers and lights up the world right? Then all you bitches will complain that we let another go. STFU and give the dude a chance. He has talent.

Based on 4 drives?

Could be if Mathis had the last few starts he'd have been more effective than Stetson against Bama.

We know Stetson isn't equipped with necessary physical tools; we know Mathis has the physical tools; and we know his struggles were entirely due to 1. Team penalties and missques and 2. Lack of experience.

If rather get Mathis the experience to see where the ceiling is than accept the ceiling we currently have.

If Daniels won the QB competition and he’s cleared then why isn’t he playing? says he won qb competition. This was written yesterday or today.

Was written 2 hours ago. If Kirby makes the change and Mathis or Daniels does well (or even not well at all and we have to go back to Bennett), all is forgiven, if we don’t take the chance and either of those two lights up the NFL in anyway whatsoever kirbys head should be on a platter.

I haven’t forgiven the fields/fromm debacle, but I’m giving Kirby another chance. If he does it again I’ll be done.

Where did anyone see Mathis in a CFB game to analyze his ability? The Arkansas game is all I can recall, and all I saw was a tall guy that had no clue what he was doing on the field that day.

If Daniels is healthy then yes. It’s time. Mathis is a no from me. The game moves way too fast for him. That’s not the case for Stet, he just has physical limitations. Mathis just looks lost out there. Even in mop up duty against auburn he looked nervous.

Mathis looked decent, not GOOD, but decent until Bumper Pool hit him on the sideline...he got shook, and folded. Don’t need to see him again to know that he’s made of glass. Best of luck to the kid if he transfers, but he’s not an NFL superstar waiting to happen. He will always have his brain surgery on his mind when he takes a hit. I would too. So would everyone else here. It’s a psychologically limiting factor that a starting QB can’t afford to have.

Sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about. There's actually a pretty good break down of Mathis' drives if you care to look.

So then are we to assume JN just decided he didn’t feel like playing this season after all the hype he was getting in the offseason?

Yep. Don't you find it odd that the guy who "beat" Newman hasn't come in or come close to coming in?

I’m all for giving Daniels a shot.

I’ve seen enough of Mathis though.

Kid looked lost out there. And while I understand the penalties hurt him out, he still never looked comfortable or looked to take command of the offense.

Kirby should honestly have an open QB competition this week between Bennett and Daniels. Then make a decision.

I assume he was given $100k by an agent to not play.

Arkansas has a pretty good defense. We need to give Mathis another look.

I feel fairly certain that if JT was healthy enough to play you would have already seen him out there, either as a starter or getting a series or 2

I mean he was projected to be one of the top QB’s in the conference. At some point there were articles that Monken wanted JT and that’s why he came. I just wonder if they were willing to risk it with his injury for the future since he has more than 1 season of eligibility left. It’s all very odd.

Oh I think the decision was odd for sure. I argued this with a Vol buddy the other day who thought it was a brilliant move on Newman's part. I want to say before transferring to UGA, Newman was mocked in the 5th? Came to UGA, got the hype/fanfare, and then gets mocked at 1-2nd round.

He then leaves. My buddy argues he is still 1-2nd round but I countered that his mock would more likely revert back to what it was before. I think djdawg is right, I think an agent got to him and convinced him he could surf the wave of hype he got with the move without the risk of actually putting tape out there. That said, I don't think that was all that wise of a decision.

So, to your point, this situation is fishy but I truly don't believe Newman lost to JT. I think 1) JT isn't healthy enough to have beat him out and 2) Newman had more time and is more experienced than JT. We'll never know how good he would have been here but sure as shite would have been better than last night.
