Here is the thing , he is not currently a QB. He’s just an incredible athlete.

UGA gas JTD trying to get healthy and will be here next year as well, more than likely. You have Beck in house and BVG coming. The focus next year should be getting them ready for 2022.

Mathis was RAW coming out of high school, extremely raw and inexperienced. He was a WR till his Jr year. They didn’t throw a ton, he just had a. Big arm. But there is no time to learn on the fly, and it’s disappointing he just a full year last year.

But take away the mistakes he made against Ark; it’s his presence on the field. He was completely lost.

I just don’t think that’s where UGAs focus should be.

The coaches clearly saw the same thing. Kirby was made it clear not all the mistakes were on him. But yes he hasn’t seen more action other than mop up.

But the deer in the headlights was obvious. So you have to assume , the coaches saw that as well.

Not only that. 1.5 quarters of football after missing a full year of activities because of a brain cyst. Calling him a bust or saying his 4 star rating isn’t accurate at this point in his career is absurd.

Guys like beck and Mathis were never expected to be credible candidates to start this year. Neither were highly rated recruits and were depth at best.

Sir, Carson back was a number 3 rated prostyle quarterback in his class, took his team to their first state championship in school history his junior year if I'm not mistaken(didn't fact check but someone can tell me otherwise), his qb play did dip a bit senior year, could say because of the poor offensive line play he had but to say he's not credible is ridiculous.

LSU just had a big 3* QB come in and play really well. It was against Boom but still. Beck is dam near 6'5 225 with a big arm. Unless he regressed for 2 straight years he should be in the conversation for some pt.

Mathis and Beck were the 280th ranked recruit in their respective classes. There's no way they could ever be good enough to play at Georgia.

Wait, I'm sorry. Got confused there. The guy I was thinking about was named Joe Burrow, and obviously he didn't play for Georgia because guys like that just aren't good enough.

Correction:

He was #9 pro style and #250 overall.
