A QB who should have been starting over Fromm, would have taken the job up there without the slightest doubt.

So I watched the first half.

Couple of things...
Ohio state is having to completely rebuild their OL and WR Corp.

Ohio Stares 1st D returns everyone and their backup D ( who is who Baldwin took 90% of his snaps against) is awful. Really bad. Maybe as good as UGAs 3rd team... maybe.

Baldwin completely struggled against the 1st team as well.

Defense returns 9 seniors and 13 that played at least 350 snaps.

Fields has had 15 practices with team

Plus Offense has a new coordinator.

I know a lot of y’all hate the kid.. but the fact is either the haters are correct or the rest of the entire football world is who thinks is gonna be great from Vegas to the NFL scouts... one group will be correct. And I’m sure they be plenty crowing on here if the are right and the world will call him a bust; just wonder how many will give him his due if he ends up setting college football on fire.... my guess is not many of you.

That a Bosa kid is gone. I'm sure he isn't the only one gone from last year.

The scouts have been drooling about his athleticism and arm. His issue has been his ability to see the field. He pulls out of plays too soon because he always could get away with it. His completions in the spring game were all on the outside and into man coverage. Hard passes physically, but the easiest from a vision standpoint.

A kid with his athletic ability should be the starter there...now, but he ain’t.

Yes, I do want him to fail. Why? Because he was very selfish and disruptive to our team. I don’t want that behavior to be rewarded. frick him and frick any UGA fan who still has a hard on for him.

This. What he did to UGA to get his hardship waiver was fricked up.

I don't understand why people couldn't see this last year. It was painfully obvious.

I hope Mathis wins a Heisman in 2021! Prefer everything about him to Fields.

It is entirely possible for both groups to be completely wrong. He could put up decent numbers, make the NFL as a lower-round pick, and then be out of the league after a pedestrian career lasting only a couple of years. He's not limited to being a god or a bust.

Mathis looked way better even with Landers fricking up what would have been a stellar day for a true freshman.

The last two Heisman winners bombed in the playoffs. I prefer Mathis win two playoff games in 2020 and two more in 2021. Let the playoff loser win the Heisman.

Landers probably single handedly (see what i did there) kept Mathis from having such an outstanding debut that we arent' going to have to listen to any idiots trying say Mathis should start over Fromm because he can beat bama with his legs...

Mathis showed some good decision and some bad ones. I think he is going to be good. We also have 2020 PP named Beck coming in next year.

Unlike last year, no one is discussing taking Fromm's job. I don't understand why this keeps coming up. I'm just looking for a confident backup who can come in and lead the team down the field for a score.

I hope we can get Mathis some reps in 4 games and preserve his RS.

The Mailman can get the rest of the reps in garbage time.

Same as Mathis. But Fields had practices with a top team last year, AND he played and practiced a full season last year with a top team.
Still, inexperienced true freshman Mathis had a better Spring Game performance in 2019 than the experienced sophomore Fields. Can't deny that.

Mathis biggest advantage is he doesn’t have Pablo Fields blowing smoke up his arse.
