Mathis isn't even close. He could be really good, but let's not anchor the kid down by comparing him to a guy who isn't even here and doesn't matter for the program.

Honestly, I see him sitting for a couple of years. He could very well develop into the starter, but depending on the development of incoming guys and SB he may never see a single start at QB and could possibly even pull a Terrell Pryor and move to WR.

I’ll say this a third time. Mathis has better pocket composure than Fields the evidence is there to see if you choose to watch. Close? Close to what? I never claimed he would take the position over or anything, I said he has better pocket composure than our last back up QB.

You can tell this from all 1 spring game we got to see of Mathis?

And against a 3rd-team DB who slipped. The ball was also thrown behind the receiver, who adjusted and made the catch. Take away that one play, and Fields has like 33 yards passing on 12 attempts

...and yet Fields completed almost 70% of his passes in REAL GAMES last year with 4TDs and ZERO interceptions.

Give it a rest on the Fields hate. Every other QB not starting put their name in transfer portal as well.

Wait let’s put this in perspective...

Fields threw 39 total passes on the season in mop up duty and scrub teams, it’s not that impressive.

Fields had very few negative plays. He never turned the ball over and was rarely sacked. It's hard for a good team to lose if the QB has very few negative plays.

The vitriol expressed by some UGA fans would be better directed at Fields' authoritarian cop father who wanted his son to play for Florida State.

I liked Fields just fine as a player but he was a cancer in the locker room due to lack of playing time.

You could tell it affected the team but we were so talented we still won games.

Exactly. I just saw the Manning documentary, and the contrast between some of these sports parents and Archie couldn't be more stark.

The kid is a kid. He played well last year, and I think he'll play well this year.

Every time we mention him like he's some kind of UGA rival we look small as hell. This team is better than his. Our QB is better than him. Let's be happy with that and move on.

Might be time to move on from the Fields talk. Dude hasn't been here in months. Let it go. It's pointless to even bring him up now.

I can’t tell it from two of Field’s spring games and a season of his crappy QB work. Anymore stupid questions?

I completely agree that Fields has a terrible pocket presence. I was just saying it’s hard to know how Mathis’ is considering we’ve only seen him play one “game”, where he’s not even allowed to get hit.

I wasn't in the UGA locker room so I can't say how Fields acted but he is still social media friends with a number of UGA players of both races. I've read no hard feelings from any player.

How about backing up your statement because I don't see that it has any support.

Well, he could have sent him there....FSU hasn't signed a QB in 2 recruiting cycles under Taggart, but they have had one QB transfer in. That one has nowhere near the potential skill level of Fields, however.

You’re all good, and I understand a lot of the Fields criticism. I just think a lot of us don’t truly understand just how far Mathis has to go to be an SEC caliber QB.

Oh yeah, long way to go but he is off to a good start.

All I asked is who was looking better in the vacuum of the 2018 and 2019 Spring practices at UGA. Not who's gonna start in college or better than Fromm. shite
