This.

With everything that’s happened this year...I just want to watch Georgia win a football game. That will go down smooth no matter how it happens.

He signed in '17 and he also played in '18.

This is his 4th year in the program and we've been hearing about em since he got here.

Don't ya think he should have been a TAD better last year?
It was his 3rd year and was still
having difficulty with adjustments, routes and blocking.

He played against Middle Tennessee, Umass, Vandy, and Austin Peay

When did I say otherwise?

I don’t know why people expected him to go from scout team to star receiver in one year.

All I said was he has the perfect measurables and if he puts it together he can be valuable.

So what? It's still game expirence and all those MULTIPLE reps in practice should have paid off but it hasn't.

It was his third year in the program. He should have AT LEAST shown real improvement be the end of the year...he didn't.

Perhaps in a red zone situation...we'll see.

Just want to be excited about the offense again.

I'm not expecting them to be in mid-season stride, and I'm sure there will be some mistakes will a brand-new system, but I sure hope there are some flashes of brilliance (as opposed to the awkward Vandy opener last season).

He was forced into that situation when we lost our top 5 pass catchers in 2018.

I just don’t think you can write him off as a terrible player after just one year. The fact that he came in as a PWO and is getting any playing time at all has shown he HAS improved since he came in.

And actually, he had a nice game vs Baylor. Made a nice TD catch I thought he would drop for sure.

Matt Landers had never taken a significant snap in his life in 2018 and he was starting in 2019. I’ve literally never heard of that. Malcolm Mitchell and Matt Landers are the only Georgia WRs in recent in history to start a season opener with no significant experience.

Landers wasn't a PWO. He had 25+ offers.

He wasn't "forced" into anything.
He won the starting job coming out of 2019 fall camp.Stop acting like he was suddenly thrust into the starting position out of nowhere.

Wow,you really haven't watched much CFB.You've never heard of a WR not starting after barely playing the year before?
How bout Justin Jefferson at LSU?
Played all of 2 games as a freshman with 2 receptions.Started all 13 games in '18 and had 870+ yards his next year. There are numerous other examples.

Sacks! And a bunch of them. We have to start getting to the qb and not just playing gap control.

Matt Landers would not have started for any Georgia team in the last 10 years other than 2019. He had no business starting.

You’re right. I was thinking of someone else

I was talking about at Georgia. Landers is the only guy to go from 3rd-4th string to starting in one year in a long time.

I think you’re missing the point of the post. You’re acting like I’m saying he’s gonna be an all-American. The dude has 2-3 years of eligibility left and everyone is ready to kick him off the team after one year. I’m hoping he can come off the bench and have a nice year this year.

And your argument that “he’s been in the program for 3 years so he can’t improve” is dumb. Plenty of guys waited until their 3rd 4th or 5th year to make an impact. Rantavious Wooten and Isaiah McKenzie come to mind.

The whole point of my post about be “forced” to start is this. For a guy like Landers, the usual path is:

Freshman year(s): Scout Team/play in cupcake games
Sophomore year: 0 starts. Appearances in most games. Roughly 10 receptions or so
Junior Year: Compete for starting job
Senior Year: Compete for starting job

So my point is that everyone can look at how Matt Landers played last year and say that he sucks, but the truth is he wasn’t ready to start.

I'm in your camp (even though a lot of your facts have been off).

Matt Landers has contributed more than Latavious Brini, Trey Blount, Ameer Speed, D'Marcus Hayes, Tray Bishop, Jaden Hunter, Netori Johnson, & DeAngelo Gibbs, all from the #6 nationally rated recruiting class.

Landers was only ranked ahead of Akhil Crompton in that class.

Throwing a recruit like that under the bus just feels wrong.

I want to look at the stats and see 250 yds rushing with 2 TDs, White getting 125 yds and Cook 75 yds.
Mathis throwing for 275 yds and 2 TDs and running for 50 yds and a TD. Defense gets 3 sacks and 3 INTs.
No injuries for either team.
As cool as it will be we should see no cramping for either team.

Certainly wasn't me but welcome to my world.

With that being stated, I'll be happy with Georgia's performance if I see that Kirby doesn't get cold feet and runs the ball 50 times after we get up 7. In other words, I don't want to see our team play to not lose. I want to see the ball spread around to playmakers in space.

I don't want to see this..

run the ball up the middle for one

run the ball up the middle for no gain

low percentage back shoulder throw on a third and long

rinse and repeat
