He certainly likes the long ball

I’ll get on board with this.

Looks like a young Matt Stafford

It’s amazing how good it feels when the QB unloads a deep ball and I don’t immediately feel like it’s a wasted down.
I actually get excited now.

It would be our luck for him to kill it for the rest of the season and try to go pro

I don’t know how many of you watched/listened to postgame presser with JT...but, he’s a sharp, humble kid. Fielded questions very well and kept up with multi-part questions, giving solid responses to every part of the questions.
Kid looked a lot better last night between the hedges than I thought he would, and I’ll admit that the initial returns show that I graded the completely incorrectly based on his USC film.

He missed on a few long balls, but made good throws most of the time. He has a great arm, but his flat release had him getting some balls knocked down. Didn’t make any real bad decisions and seemed to audible effectively. Miss State was overloading the gaps and forcing him to make decisions fast, which he did. Miss St had a good game plan, but he beat them at it. I wouldn’t look too far into the run game. Miss State had the numbers there every play. Was also really happy to see our receivers win some plays while being covered in man.

I like his confidence, he brings something different than what we're used to.
Usually one of our QB's will go to a post game presser and not say anything about the game.
JT stepped up there and talked about getting the ball to our guys. He threw the ball with confidence and took some chances. This is really refreshing to see cause Kirby has always made throwing the ball such a "hold your breath" exercise but it was good to see JT just step up and rip some throws and have fun.

All I can say is thank goodness for that Brooks Adams JT tape breakdown. That one can get buried away with the Power Rangers uniforms from 2011.

In his post game presser the kid shows confidence and positivity. Really like that. He spoke with clarity.

JT on Dawgnation...
quote:
Daniels spoke very clearly on why he felt so comfortable consistently putting it up there to his wide receivers.
“If you have George Pickens and Jermaine Burton, if you’re not going to throw it up to them, don’t recruit them,” Daniels said. “George will make me look good, Jermaine will make me look good. Kearis makes me look really good when I under throw him on a deep ball down the middle and makes a great play.

When JT said “But when I knew what we had called and I saw the zero shell, I was real excited because I knew we were about to score.” I felt it move just a little bit.

Now that everyone is listening, here is some info about JT you may not know. His first college TD at USC was a 44 yarder. Yes, he likes the long ball, and that means when the Dawgs are at midfield, they are in scoring position. JT was the starting QB at Mater Dei High (the only high school in the nation to produce two Heisman QBs), when he was a freshman, and he called his own plays. That check down you saw replayed last night is old stuff for JT. About the play book, JT used to come to USC practices the summer before he enrolled. He stood behind the coaches and one day a play was run and JT noticed a player was out of position and asked the coach if they saw it. The coaches agreed with JT and admitted they hadn't noticed.

He's the best option we've got. Too bad it took this long for him to get on the field.

It’s just puzzling. Was it the knee? Was it the family doctor? Was Kirby riding with Stetson bc he won games with him even though he wasn’t the best option? We will Probly never know.

Brooks Austin?
He was spot on in the film evaluatuon if that's who you are referencing.
Daniels is money when he is throwing with just his upper body (25 yards or under and throws on the run).
Daniels is short on almost every throw downfield when he has to get his entire body into the throw (had 1 money throw to Burton down the sideline, but all of the others were short)
The good thing about underthrows is that your receiver still has a shot at making a play on the ball. Much better than the overthrows from Bennett and Mathis.
Look at Daniels footwork on the deep shots. I've never seen anything like it. And it is why he is inconsistent/short.
