At linebacker, I am not being specific about the actual middle linebacker spot vs SAM vs JAC positions. Just referring to the linebacker room in general

Beal is an OLB/Edge rusher not ILB.

Dan Jackson was a demon last year in the limited time he played. On special teams he was on top of every punter and blocked one and recovered one. On defense he blitzed often and hit hard on receivers and RBs.
I look for him to win a couple of games with his defense

Dan was serviceable last season.
For a walk on to not be a liability is fantastic.
Yes. He can improve in a second season. But i think we are trying to replace him.

He might be our dime all season. He might fill in at safety while someone else slides down into the money position. Or he may fall back to a depth piece. We will have to wait to see how the season progresses.

DawgsLife is man of faith and I believe lives his life accordingly.

I would not be surprised if his wife has no idea what that is.

This is true, and I try.

Jackson probably won't start many games but he will be on the field a lot for special teams and 3rd dime packages. He seems to find the ball carrier and hits hard when he gets there. Good blitzer as well.

He is a linebacker, so when I say middle I am referring to general position on the field.

There is line, middle and backer.

He is an edge player along the line of scrimmage.

Agree to disagree about the semantics.

It wouldn't surprise me if Oregon scored some points on us. Good news is that it wouldn't surprise me if we put up 60 on them. Other good news is the schedule softens considerably for the next few weeks and allows some young guys to learn.

I doubt we will score 60. (I realize you might have been exaggerating a tad) A big weakness for Oregon last season was their run defense and they lost a good bit from their front 7, so I suspect we will do a lot of running. Passing requires a good bit of timing and that early in the season I think we will run more and then open up the passing game as the season moves along.

That said, we will probably come out throwing and throw for 350 yards.

I predict Brock Bowers has 175 yds and 2-3 TDs.

Very real possibility. I have to think his numbers will regress a little bit. I think they try to get the ball to Washington and Arik Gilbert, so I think it eats into his numbers a little bit, then 2023 see his numbers take a big step forward.

It's all a guess for me, but i think we need to get more people involved with the passing game or teams will give more attention to Bowers....which is what I think we will see against Oregon.

Lanning will probably put a lot of emphasis on stopping the run, but I am not sure he will have the players to do it.
