I was there but was trying to see if it was Nauta that got destroyed on the replay. I recorded it and watched again yesterday and believe he waited to relinquish the ball until an official was nearby. He slapped five with his right hand so he had to be holding it with his left hand at that moment. Then there’s a millisecond where you can see the ball being tossed in the air. So he didn’t drop it...

He could have flipped it to a teammate that was running out for the extra point try...he was bearing the center of the field at the goal line. I would guess it was the Umpire for him to set it, but can’t find anything anywhere.

Holy shite.
From the video on the big screen you see Nauta toss the ball and then a second later the officials cap comes into the corner. Although not definitive this is as close as I’ve seen of proof that there was a toss that at a minimum was in the officials direction.
