Interesting. A friend of mine who is more closely connected to high school ball and recruiting sorta felt the opposite. I asked him a little earlier and this is what he said regarding his thoughts on how the Vandagriff/Gunner situation might play out: "hate to be negative regarding any kid.... let's just say I feel a whole lot better today"

I've heard and read the same thing, that Gunner might be a little ahead of BVG development-wise.

Either way, I expect there to be a hell of a battle in the spring of '22 for the starting QB job as Gunner is an EE. I just hope Kirby has a truly open competition and may the best player win. Iron sharpens iron.

My people tell me Gunner is a baller and has the football IQ to play well at the next level.

Not going to lie I like the way Gunners built no homo, kinda looks like Tim Tebow build wise. He gonna be running fools over on read option.

BVG vs. Gunner

Gunner's arm looks a lot better in this game footage than it does in his highlight footage. I retract what I said earlier.

At the end of the broadcast -"what could shape up to be a very interesting SEC East Rivalry" .....

Now they are both Dawgs.

Holy Moly.

I've seen both play in person a couple times. BVG has high potential but played against weak competition. He is a big kid with a strong arm and reminded me a lot of Eason but more mobility. Stockton's arm didn't seem as strong, but it wasn't a huge drop off. Stockton's running ability and how hard he ran really impressed me. Somebody else said it on here, but he really reminded me of Tebow. He slams into tacklers and made Defender's pay. Both are quality pickups and speaks volumes to UGA recruiting.

Not sure how either will translate in the SEC, but damnit, UGA has a great problem to have for the time being.

I’ve always liked Gunners game and I love gritty Qbs that can beat you with their legs.

I’m honestly a little shocked he didn’t stick with Connor Shaw at USCe or follow Bobo to Auburn.

Totally agree, but I’ll admit, that is where I fully expected him to end up. I don’t see a scenario where we’re able to keep both Vandagriff and Stockton, so let’s hope the best man is obvious in practices. We know Mathis was apparently one player in practice and a totally different one in actual games.

Mathis wore the "no-hit" jersey in practices so there was really no way to evaluate his game performance until he played. His first hit rattled him so much that he basically wanted to get off the field asap. BVG will probably get solid practice sessions. We'll see how good BVG will be a year before Stockton arrives on campus.

As highlighted above, no, we probably don't. It's just what we were hearing.

I don’t remember hearing much hype about him.

It was Jim Donnan hype. Jim made mulitple mentions about Dwan being the best player on the team, a breakout star.

Am I bias yes sure. I have watched Brock for 4 years at our school.
But I have seen both play on the same field last year. Arm Strength, Size, leadership and seeing the field. Its not even close.

And if you didn't watch the Rabun vs Prince game (yes Gunner won) you will see Gunner has a ton of Maturing to do as he showed his arse multiple times.

I watched that game, and I agree. Both are talented QBs, but Brock is way more mature. Gunner needs to grow up a little bit.

Why because he back stepped into the endzone? If he beat the Bama's and the LSU's I wouldn't care if he did back flips.
