All for competitive OOC games but not a big fan of having to wait 8 years for them to visit us in Athens.

Yeah that's some bullshite. I suppose it gives them wiggle room to work out another opponent with a buyout, then we are stuck scrambling to get another shite school to come in for that slot.

And who wants to wait 8 years for revenge, for the loser? The anticipated rematch won't be anticipated because nobody will GAF at that point.

So stupid.

It will still be anticipated because of the matchup, it's silly to say nobody will GAF. They're a big name and they've never played in Athens before so it'll definitely be huge. I do think it's dumb to wait so long though. I think it's dumb to schedule these games period actually.

Nobody will give a damn because that game isn't for another 12 years and it wouldn't surprise me if it never happens. That's stupid scheduling. Schedule someone else who will do a home and home in consecutive years, or at least in three years, like Notre Dame.

I will say there are better than decent odds that Lincoln Riley bolts for the NFL by 5 years from now... Offensive "guru" types rarely can hold out against the temptation. I don't know whether Kirby will be able to or not, but certainly NFL doesn't play to his strengths as we know them...

I was surprised when the Browns didn't make him an offer over the offseason. I do think Jerruh will come calling when the Cowboys eventually fire Jason Garrett.

that's a long way off so impossible to guess but I can easily see kirby retiring here. I think it's a pretty safe assumption he's not going to leave UGA for another college head coaching gig. The NFL may be enticing, but I don't know if I see it here. For one he's already gotten a taste of the NFL when he was with saban at the dolphins, granted it was a short stint but the "oh wow I'm coaching in the NFL I've made the big time" thought some young bucks get probably doesn't apply to kirby. Second, he can see time and time again coaches that are good in college not having the same success in the NFL. I also think kirby is tailor-made to be a great college coach but does his style work in the NFL? He can get fired up and yell at 19 year olds he recruited but is a 35 year old grown arse man gonna respond the same way? He also doesn't really offer anything unique to the NFL game like a Lincoln Riley or urban meyer might. He's an old school, play defense, run the ball kinda coach which are a dime a dozen in the NFL. All of this is basically echoing what you said that the NFL doens't play to his strengths, just saying I find it hard to believe he'd bolt here for hte NFL. The only way I can see it is if he wins more than one national title here and feels his work here is done. In that scenario I don't care what he decides to do I'll be forever content.

Definitely agree with all this. The prior stint in the NFL *with* Saban and seeing that it wasn't a great fit for Nick is definitely helpful... there is less "what if" there. And ultimately, with his strengths in recruiting, the inability to stack the deck and control having significantly better players just seems counterintuitive for him...

As you said, if he wins multiple titles here, he can do whatever he wants... jerk off on the arches... dgaf.

It was early... hadn't had my requisite intake of caffeine yet.

ETA: Also, call me crazy, but wasn't the email system from back in the day called "ARCHES" or something?

ETA2: You missed an opportunity given the source material... "incumming"

Just occurred to me: Georgia will now play at Oklahoma before it makes its first trip to Texas A&M, which joined the SEC in 2012.
