IDK about D-Rob but we got us a pretty scary team

I still can’t get over how freakish athletic our DB’s are and our edge rushers.

DBS looked very good - fast, physical, savvy. It looks like this unit may be one of the strengths of the team.

I liked the way the D-Line played, but they were short on big plays. That's partly to be expected since they're going against the best O-Line in the country.

Fromm slept through. He was just messing around. Backup QBs were passable, and Bennett looks more like the #2 than Mathis. Either way, we all know if Fromm goes down there's a problem. No surprises there.

Swift looked strong and fast and ready to go. Seems like a pretty big drop off if he can't go at any point.

Starting QB looks pedestrian, backup QB(s) flash, defensive line dominates, DBs make a bunch of havoc plays, etc.

That was a classic G-Day performance.

Someone was posting on IG an "official" attendance count of 53,630. Not bad for a chili damp day too. Eat a bag of _____ Coach Mullen!

No real deep takeaways from the game, but holy shite the amount of talent on the field is unbelievable.

OL looked really solid. DBs and LBs will carry the defense. Bennett looked like a decent backup. He threw the ball well, except he threw into coverage too often. RBs will be great catching the ball. That will be a great weapon.
Mathis needs to redshirt and develop his reads better and gain about 20 lbs. He has a good arm and a great release but he holds the ball too long and throws into coverage. Freshman mistakes.

I think he is a bit more dynamic than Fields as a whole. Faster than I thought

I don't know about any of that but he seems to see the field a bit better.

I believe that was always the plan. He is a far better physical talent than Bennett, and if he progresses and gets stronger, he'll probably be the starting QB if Fromm leaves after this year, which I doubt. Maybe we'll sign one of the top QBs in the country.

He caught a pass for a TD. Never saw that from Fields.

He can serve as a decoy receiver, Fields probably not

Please let’s try not to make Mathis to Fields comparisons, especially considering how that is not going to do any favors to Mathis.

Well...since Fields went 4-14 at OSU, not impressed with anything Fields last year or this year at any point.

I agree. I said a few days ago we should compare them after the G-Day game. Fields was awesome last year but did not impress in his game last week. Mathis looked raw but better in his performance than Fields at OSU.
Very good arm and great speed.

Probably because your expectations are significantly higher for Fields. Every program in America would rather have Fields starting for them this season.

Mathis could be good, but he’s a project. There’s a reason he’s 3rd string behind Stetson.

Fields would be 3rd strong behind Stetson

Well shite. I tried to get to a TV in time to watch the spring game yesterday. Looks like I missed a good game. Who does everyone think will be our backup QB this season? From the comments, it seems it might be Bennett.

Mathis likely will redshirt. Bennett looked like a good backup. If he had to start he would be like Grayson Lambert. Adequate but not great.

Bennett. And I wouldn't be surprised (and would actually be happy) if Mathis redshirts.
