Would you prefer Butch and Mac's replacement to be big names that could make their programs better? It would make for some great games and rivalries. Also it would instantly make the East one of if not the best division in the Nation

Are you really asking if we would prefer UT and UF to be strong powers again rather than their current mediocre state? What kind of question is that?

Great games to me are wins.

Bobby Petrino

He would probably leave the Louisville/FSU game at halftime if the money was right.

Not a big fan of this thread premise.

We are now so good and unbeatable that we hope other division teams improve just so we can have more entertaining games?

Pardon me while I chuckle at this.

Nowhere did I say this or imply this. For the past 2 weeks I have seen people post over and over again that the SEC is down because the coaches that we have hired. So simple question for you, if you agree with that then would you want great coaches to be hired at Tennessee and Florida to fix that problem? That is what I was implying, nowhere did I say anything about UGA in the OP.

Nope. Would prefer more middle of the road coaches who occasionally produce decent teams that boost our SOS but will not dominate.

If you win the SEC with 1 loss or less, you're getting in the College Football Playoff. I am fine with the East sucking so we have the best opportunity to make that happen year in and year out.

I want Mike Norvell at Tennessee. He is 11-5 so far as the coach of Memphis. Could he be a great hire? Sure. Could he turn into Dooley or Jones? More than likely.

For Florida? I bet they will spend money on their hire, whenever it is. I dont think Mac will get the axe this year, so they could lose out on potentially getting someone like Chip Kelly, but I would be surprised if they fire Mac at the end of 2018, and Bob Stoops is ready to coach again after a year absence.

I don't care about how "down" the SEC is. Sure, I don't want the SEC to be perceived as weak, but it's not necessarily a huge benefit to be perceived as the strongest conference either. In my mind, if you want to go to the playoffs, you need to win the SECCG. If the playoff committee were to leave out an undefeated SEC champ, or a 1-loss SEC champ that beat Bama in the SECCG, then I would be floored. I doubt that happens as long as Saban is at Alabama.

As long as Bama is Bama, and the East Champ has to beat them to win the SEC, that's good enough for me.

So short answer: No, I don't want other East teams to improve and make it harder for UGA to win the East.

Hey, how about we beat Tennessee and/or Florida before we start deciding whether or not to fix them

why in the world do you consider that a problem? I wish that all 13 other SEC schools have horrible coaches.

It's really unnecessary. The SEC simply needs 2 dominant teams and some other teams to not suck meteorically. Bama + UGA make for a great pairing because we don't play during the regular season on a consistent basis, we do share rivals, so if we are both good, we can hopefully suppress UT/AU on the recruiting trail. Think about the other conferences right now... what conferences are "good"

B1G? - Ohio State/Michigan get a lot of love... Penn St is on the come up here in the last couple of seasons - but realistically, Ohio State is the only one perceived as a consistent power thus far... outside of that you've got Wisconsin which is feasting in a weak division.

ACC - Clemson & FSU essentially... behind that you have several programs that are trying to play catchup in Louisville, Miami, Va Tech...

Pac12 - USC/Washington right now... but even if you look back it's rarely been more than 2 legitimate contenders at a time.

Big12-2-2+2 - Oklahoma? aaaand? It's been a while since they've had a consistent #2/3 program. This year looks to be TCU/Ok State, but that TCU team we played in a shite bowl last year...

No reason to make the East the best division... there is no benefit for us. Clemson/FSU were perceived as strong even before Louisville and other teams started coming up. They were essentially the only 2 teams in the ACC with a chance. Better to have that split across divisions than in the same one.

The Pirate at WSU is the one coach I do not want coming to the SEC East.

I like your thought there for UT.

Ugh... don't make me think about Chip Kelly at Florida... not sure I can handle that. Please let him go to UCLA or somewhere out west.

I really don't think Stoops comes back to do a head coaching gig. He certainly could, but I find his commentary significantly more real than what we heard from Urbs when he left Florida. My hope is that since they picked up Mac from CSU, that they'll steer clear of Bobo... but then there's always the chance that Auburn goes after him. Rather he go to a team we don't play every year if he's gonna have to go coach for the bad guys. Not sure who I'd like to see at Florida that would be realistic and not potentially terrible for the Dawgs... Maybe Frost at UCF if he has a couple of good seasons in a row? He's making noise already and if Mac survives this year and/or next, might be time for him to take the next step, but could be another Norvell type that may not quite be ready for the SEC.

Anyone that wants FL or TN to be better hasn't been watching football long enough and isn't a real fan.

I hope they suck forever.
