I'm happy Chaney is gone. Kirby knew the offense was the reason we didn't win the championship, not because we were "young". What happened to the toss sweep? No fullback play whatsoever. Say what you want to say about CMR, he knew how to use the fullback in his offense especially on the goal line. Let's petition for more of those bread n butter plays with the fullback involved

The fullback has basically been phased out of modern football. No one is winning championships out of the I formation in 2019. I love the power running game, but it is more effective with 3-4 WRs on the field where the defense can't stack the box.

The disappearance of the FB position can 100% be attributed to Coach Smart. I'm not defending Chaney, but that philosophy came directly from the top and Kirby has said so himself.

I met Mark Richt when he first came to Georgia and spoke with him several times at alumni and athletic association functions. I always liked him and still do.
So, I will say this about Mark Richt.
How many NC games did he lead us to in his fifteen years here? How many times did YOU curse and scream at your TV about stupid play calling when he was the HC and OC? FB is nothing any more than a short TE on the field to block and maybe catch an outlet pass 3 times a season. Let's modernize our offense.

I'm a big fan of using a fullback, but when was the last time a team won a National Title while playing "big boy" football the majority of the time? Legit question, just because I can't recall. Only shot would be one of those early Saban teams at Alabama I'd think.

Those teams used a lot of multiple TE sets and lots of motion. I don't think they used a true fullback.

I guess I was just thinking of the pure mass they had on those teams and assumed one of those hogs had to be a fullback.

Is it too soon to comment that Texas lined up with fullback formations?

The kid is listed as a tight end on the roster. But he played FB and HBack in various formations.

We don't even line up with a player in the FB spot anymore (who cares what position he is called).

It may have gotten a td on 3rd/4th an goal.

Too many to count. And when I was younger and TVs were tougher, they often caught some frustration in the form of whatever I had at hand to throw at that particular time.

Incorporating a player like quayvon hicks in this Chaney offense would have a positive for the run game. Sound fullback and TE play beat teams like Bama, plus a dual threat QBs from GA works on Bama too

I love the way that Oklahoma used Dmitri Flowers in 2017.

I know that it takes a specific talent/personnel to pull that off. And with the injury to Zeus, we weren't capable of replicating that this year.

But that spot can do so many things. And yes, they lined up Flowers in the lead block fullback spot.

I think Smart/Chaney wanted to replace the FB with an extra TE for blocking. More versatility and you don't have to use an extra scholarship.

I'd be happy to get a package with the FB in it.

Fred Munzenmaier was a baller.

It doesn't have to be a fullback player. No special scholarship. If it weren't for the Zeus injury, I would have thought that Holyfield could have gotten extra reps.

It has to be someone who loves to punish. And preferably someone with good hands and skills with the ball. Dmitri Flowers is the perfect example (tight end body. Stronger version of Orson charles).

Line him up in front of the tailback and let him go hulk-smash on someone.
