So you want a talent like Fields to sit on the bench for a minimum of two years?

No, I want to see him sit on the bench for one year. His freshman year. And I don't want to use him unless we need him. Not in mop up time against bad teams. That's all. Pretty sure I've said this multiple time in this thread.

So you are in favor of using a 2 QB' system?

Pretty sure you said you didn't like a 2 QB system.

So you're in favor of it but just not next year?

You took what I said and said the exact opposite of what I said. No, still not in favor of a two QB system. Whoever wins the job next year plays. It's pretty simple.

Not really but OK

So even if Fields is the better QB this year he shouldn't play?

It doesn’t impact my life one bit if Fields plays this next year...

It’s the off-season, so well let this go.

It’s natural for the fever to take hold later and later as you get older. But, don’t worry.... By August you’ll regret pretending that you aren’t an obsessed fanatic.

Yes if he is the best QB he should play. Again, I don't want him to play mop up duty against bad teams. Have you read this whole thread or are you just jumping in at the end trying to twist all my words and have some kind of "gotcha" moment?

We should design a couple facemelter trick plays where Fromm and Fields are both on the field at same time...and email it to Chaney.

This could be huge. What do ya got?

Combine the following:

-steal Oklahoma’s Rose bowl play where Mayfield caught the TD
-and blend with the direct snap to Sony when Fromm was pretending to be changing play and calling for adjustments.

-basically it’s a camouflaged direct snap to Fields, but he throws it to Fromm for TD

-play call name: “One-Eleven Sleet Street”

My point here was I’m not emotionally invested in a single player...so it wont “affect” me if Fields plays. Kind of like I wasn’t bothered that Eason didn’t get meaningful snaps last year where he could “make all the throws”. We were winning so whether Eason was allowed to throw it deep was a non issue.

I honestly think people want Fields to play just because he brings and “extra dimension” to the offense regardless of whether we need an extra dimension to win the games or not.

Define bad teams.

Since that is the point which you are hinged on.

Define bad teams. If he can get mopup against good teams, would that make a difference?

It’s best to be well prepared for the situation that requires a second qb.

Teams we are beating by 4 scores and he comes in for mop up. I've mentioned Austin Peay, MTSU, and UMass. You could make a case for UTk. How many times do I have to repeat my self? It's like you don't even read my posts.

I just flipped through channels and landed on the Tennessee spring game. I shite you not the conversation from Greg McElroy and the other squeakers calling the game was about Fromm and Fields .

So if we can get him into the game when we are winning by 2 scores... that could be productive? 2 scores against south carolina. 2 scores against vandy. 2 scores against Kentucky. 2 scores against LSU. 2 scores against Florida. 2 scores at Missouri. 2 scores against GT.

It is a 12 game season. Is everyone we face a bad team that can add no value for a backup QB?

I don't want him coming in up 2 scores against any of those teams you just mentioned unless he beats out Fromm and takes his job. If he's not good enough to start I'm not letting him come I to a 2 score SEC game for experience. Sorry.

You are changing your argument, but you get onto me for asking you to repeat yourself.... yeah.

So now, it isn't that Fields cannot improve by playing mopup duty against bad teams (like you have referenced about 7 times).
Now... if he isn't the starter as a freshman, he shouldn't play.

Am I misinterpreting your point? It is hard to gauge because it sounds like your point is quickly evolving.

I haven't changed a single thing this entire thread. It's really not that hard. 2 scores is too close of a game to bring in an unproven freshman for a top 10 rated QB in the country that led us to the NCG last year. Why would you take those snaps from him? Unless JF1 straight up takes Fromm's spot he shouldn't be coming into that game. Period.

I disagree with that. But what else is new.

Up 2 scores at the start of the 4th quarter and I can see us getting backups work. We do it at other positions. We sit Chubb and Sony (who were better than fromm last season) and played Herrien and Holyfield. Why is sitting Fromm so we can give work to our 2nd string quarterback any different?
If fields busts his tail during the week and the coaches want to reward his effort at the same time as giving our primary backup experience, are our coaches idiots?

Where did you say this earlier in the thread? I remember a lot of references to garbage time against bad teams.

Page 1. It's in my third post.

Hand off to Fields instead of Hardman on that jet sweep pass
