It proves neither of our points. We can only go by what we have seen on the field, and fields has done good when on the field.

too small of a sample for me to say he is a good passer.

fields fan boys think otherwise

coaches wont let him throw

The sample is small, but we literally have nothing else to go by. You can choose to be optimistic or pessimistic about his potential based on that good play. Only one view of it really makes sense though.

You (we) don't know that for a fact.

oh hope he does well. just dont think we need to rush him to be the fetaure qb when we have jake fromm. hope he plays and helps the run game, and if he does throw i hope it goes well.

Yes we do. Why is this so hard.

I offer 2017 as my evidence. Fields hasnt won the confidence of the coaches and when he has played he tucks and runs. Even when he drops back to pass. It in the film,

What do you have to show he’s even a competent passer as QB?

G day and all his real play so far shows he is a competent passer. There is nothing proving he is an incompetent passer.

He made some good throw against MTSU.

Spring game is bullshite.

Otherwise I have to go with our coaches opinion. I know that sucks but sorry.

I doubt our coaches opinions on fields throwing abilities align with yours, not to mention you are choosing to ignore what we have seen. Even if the coaches did agree with you, you would be putting 100% faith in the same coaches who thought Eason was better Fromm. Rock solid reasoning there.

Fields has been compared to Cam Newton right? Cam never was and still isn’t a great passer. If fields can complete 50% and make another 10% of the plays with his legs you have basically the same effectiveness as Fromm but with a higher ceiling and ability to impact the running game in a positive way. We need to give it a shot.

Fields is a better passer than Cam. Gary Danielson has watched practices and stated that Fields was throwing it all over the lot with accuracy. This is why Danielson made mention of the fact that Fields should be given a chance in the LSU game. I will give the Fields "naysayers" the fact that he may not get us in the correct play every down. BUT, what he can do is get us out of trouble when the play breaks down, Fromm can't.

Justin Fields was the #1 player in the nation for a reason. Oh wait, why is Dabo starting a senior over a freshman? Oh, wait again, he's not

That’s a fine opinion if Jake Fromm is playing well. He isn’t.

The truth is we haven't gotten Fields enough meaningful playing time and we haven't allowed him to throw the ball enough. He's going to make some mistakes, but he's the QB who can get you where you want to go. Fromm can't get you there unless you have all world backs and a truly great defense. At this point, we don't have either yet.

He’s gotten a lot of play time but I agree that Fields hasn’t gotten enough time to really get going with all aspects of his game. Bit short of an injury no backup gets that kind of playtime.

How do you do that? Give him every other series? Let him start a game?

We really have no idea of where Fields is, how much of the playbook he’s learned, can he read a defense, is he hot tubbing with Nauta and coeds instead of practicing, etc. None of us know this.

My concern is he’s not coming along as anticipated and we could go from bad to worse. There is no logical reason to believe that he as a freshman would do a better job of picking up defensive schemes than Fromm..so where does that leave us?

I do believe we would’ve had a better outcome at LSU with Fields because if he couldn’t read the defense he can take off....but that will only get us so far.

BTW here’s a DN article on how many snaps Fields has gotten thus far - which is something I’ve been wondering but haven’t seen.
