Reading this shitshow of a thread, I'm seeing people who are saying that Fromm is a better player than Fields.
Fromm had a bad season. Fields had a great season. There isn't really much more to it than that.

e people in this thread actually saying that Fromm is more talented than Fields?
If dawgslife isn’t saying that, he is saying something close to it.

Jake Fromm is very comparable to Hudson Mason. He just happens a to have better talent around him.

I have not read the entire thread...but I have not seen that.

There is a ton more than that./ the context. Ask djs. He loves context as long as he sets the context and nothing is allowed to be added.
Look at the thread title. This actually has nothing to do with Fromm. It is about Fields and how he threw an INT to a wide open DB that stopped his team from winning a playoff game.
Without going all the way back through the thread I would be willing to bet that other people brought Fromm up.

I think his arm is a little better than Mason's was. But the comparison is fairly accurate in that both are smart players whose strengths are timing routes and the short passing game. Neither one made defenses fear the deep ball with any consistancy.

He did. There was clearly miscommunication between he and the WR. I'm guessing that was an option route which was supposed to be read based on the position of the safety. Fields read one thing and Olave read it differently.

I was right. the first reference about Fromm was brought into the thread by NCawg52.:
If Fields is a bum, then Fromm ought to just hang up his cleats.
That was a game between two great teams. Both would have beat the dog shite out of us.
This thread is about Fields losing the game last night even though he had superior talent, a superior OC and superior and experienced WRs. Can you imagine where OSU would have been without Dobbins?

I agree 100%.
ETA
Although I am willing to also believe that at the snap the safety made a move that also caused the miscommunication.

Anyone trashing fields is a hypocrite if they aren’t bashing Fromm even more so. The problem is the biggest Fromm apologists weren’t making the same excuses for fields that they use for Fromm, even though fields deserved more leeway than Fromm ever has.

I'm not convinced they had superior talent. It was pretty even. Clemson is loaded too.

And anyone trashing Fromm is a hypocrite if they do not also trash Fields. It works both ways you know.
You and others have been assuring us that the difference in Georgia winning and losing a NC is Fields. Well, Fields could not win it with a better surrounding cast.
Why? because he made a crucial mistake at a point in the game where a crucial mistake could not be made.

Only if you ignore the context.
Ohio st probably isn’t even close with Fromm as their qb in that game, and uga is probably much closer to the playoff with fields.

Superior talent to us. In other words, if he had been playing for Georgia we would not even have been there. Ergo, Fields was not the magic bullet some on here made him to be.
People all year wanted to point fingers at Fromm and ridiculed me when I said there were many reasons Fromm had problems. Fromm regressed. no doubt. His WRs were young and inexperienced. The OC was problematic. The plays called were sometimes bad. Fromm lost his QB coach. Tons of reasons. but we had some on here that insisted the problem with Georgia was all on Fromm.

Or you ignore the context I gave. Seems odd you favore some context while ignoring other significant context. Odd indeed.
quote:Or they might win it. Their WRs made circus catches all night long. Fields didn't run, and was sacked 4 times at least, so Fromms heistance to run would not have been a problem. Nope.

OSU wins if Fromm had been their QB. I said so, so it must be true!

It wasn't all on Fromm. The interior OL play was bad, for instance. I'm willing to put a large majority of the problems on Fromm though. The consistently missed throws were a big, big problem.

There is plenty more context to defend fields than there is to trash him.

Fields made good throws and their wrs made good catches.

He officially ran for 13 yards which includes sacks. That’s more yards than Fromm ran over the past 33 games combined.

That is not a popular opinion at all

Not one person made this claim.

Anyone who things Fromm would have played better than Fields in this game is very delusional. Fields threw for 300 yards and kept a lot of plays alive with his legs. I'm not sure if we could even get 17 points against Clemson.

Not sure he missed tons of throws that could not be explained the way we explained Fields INT. A lot of missed throws were caused by miscommunication with young, inexperienced WRs. not all, certainly, but enough. Look at the results from two years ago, and even last season. When Fromm had veteran WRs that made similar reads Fromm was very successful.
Once he lost the veteran WRs and had a new group of receivers that suffered. That and a new OC.
