Are you sure? I recall Murray being a 4 star and Mett a 5.

Nvm I looked and you were right rivals had Murray at 3 and Mett at 7 as ranked QBs in that class

Both were 4 stars.

But Murray was a 98 composite and an elite 11 QB.

Mett was a 93 composite.

First 3 career games:

Eason- 48 of 87 (55.2%) for 643 yards / 5 TDs / 3 INTs
vs. UNC, Nicholls & Missouri

Fromm - 34 of 57 (59.6%) for 449 yards / 5 TDs / 1 INT
vs. App St., ND & Samford

Eason had almost half of his yards against Missouri. Fromm has a 151 rating this year. Eason was 120 all of last year.

For me, it's not so much what people have said about Eason as what they haven't said. I believe CKS has talked about Fromm being a film rat and he or some other coach(es) commented about Fromm getting down Chaney's offense and playbook really quickly. I haven't heard that kind of praise for Eason as far as I can remember.

I think we'll get a glimpse of just how grown up Fromm is this weekend. Moo states team is no joke. Those fumbles gotta stop

That's all well and good, but Smart isn't choosing between freshman Eason and freshman Fromm.

Sophomore Eason was well ahead of freshman Fromm by pretty much all accounts.

It certainly seems Fromm has a higher football IQ to me. He throws with more confidence. I think he sees the field better. Eason has a height and expert experience advantage, though the later is getting less valid.

I think right now, Eason is, in some ways, a more polished player than Eason.

I dunno, Eason may actually be more polished than Eason.

Agreed. Other than those fumbles, Fromm has made (mostly) good decisions, thrown the ball with confidence, and managed the huddle well. He's even directed players to their positions a few times. He's acted more mature than he should be at this point. Regardless of the outcome, I think the QB battle we have right now is a good one.

You didn't burst my bubble. I honestly couldn't remember. but, for some reason, I was thinking Mettenberger was expected to be the starter....not after the signing, but after spring ball. Again, I very well could be wrong.

Eason might have had a 59% comp percentage had the WR's actually used their hands to catch a ball instead of trying to do it with their feet.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I mean, I think Tom Brady is a film rat and Rodgers does it with natural talent. Both are great, though, and I'm not sure which I would pick to start a team with.

I like Fromm. I guess my arguing for Eason comes more from everybody's knee jerk reaction to crowning Fromm after three games and their readiness to toss him aside.

Good. I don't want to see us relying on Ramsey as our main backup.

Another thing I noted last year... it seemed Eason didn't throw as catchable ball as Fromm does.

Was is the key. So you are willing to pull Fromm even if we win this weekend? Pull the kid that has won 4 in a row. Good way to lose a locker room

Should have said Fromm is more polished!

I played WR, and honestly....I've never understood what this means when I've heard it. Other than timing and velocity, I never noticed a difference in the ball from one QB to another. If you are talking about touch, then I would agree. Eason sometimes put too much on the ball at close range. Fromm does seem to have a better touch or idea of how much to put on a ball.

Or gain a locker room. Do you want to play for a coach that makes you lose your job if you get hurt, or makes you feel like you have a job if you are legitimately hurt?

Don't get me wrong...If Fromm wins the job, then I am 100% behind him. But we won't know who the better QB is this year until Eason gets on the field.

As DawgsLife said, that could go either way. Most players will just want the better player out there, I would imagine.
