Did anyone else find Kirby's comments about SBIV odd?

Paraphrasing - I've seen him around a few times but haven't spoken with

No

Kirby is pretty busy this time of year.

It is kind of like being Santa Claus. Or the president. Sometimes, things line up. Sometimes, they don't. But there aren't an abundance of sometimes for Kirby these days.

I guess it would only be weird if he had said that he DID speak with Jordan Davis or Nolan Smith, etc.

But that could just be a personal choice of Stetson.

I think it’s more likely Kirby didn’t really talk to any or few of the former players because he’s so focused during game week/day

Also.. we can all agree that Stetson is dealing with some kind of addiction issue, presumably alcohol? If he’s truly working a program, he gets in, says hi, and gets out.

I’m sure he has had some kind of conversation with Stetson the past year about what’s going on, and good on Kirby for not putting that out there!

Kirby did say that Jordan said “I’m crying’ too, coach. Those are my babies”. When the seniors were being honored.

Additionally, Kirby’s vague answer and body language when answering the question about talking to Stet was that of a person who is not comfortable discussing the “why” of a situation.

It wasn’t odd to me. I probably wouldn’t want to discuss with the media my interaction or lack thereof with a former player with personal issues.

Smart also said he was consumed and made kind of an emotional gesture while pulling his hat off and putting it back on during that interaction. That jumped out to me.

He looks tired, for sure. Stressed.

I didn't think Kirby's answer to the question was odd, but his body language and tone of voice was odd to anyone that regularly watches his pressers when asked that specific question about stetson.

I kind of get the feeling that the question kind of made him reflect on just how hectic shite is for him at times. Like, he can't even spend a few meaningful moments with people when they come back to visit the university. His gestures at that moment seemed so involuntary.

It really jumped out as a moment of the body giving you a glimpse of just how involved the job is.

Kirby was fricking human in that moment.

I don't know why, but I just get the feeling that Kirby did not think this team would be able to do it but low and behold here they are at the end of the season kicking arse like the last two years. We may or may not win it all again but this has been his best coaching job without question

He’s seemed pretty confident this team could do it. Outside of Missouri he really hasn’t even shown any nervousness about the games. I was expecting him to be uncomfortable about Mississippi but he never seemed that way.

There was a moment like this earlier in the season. I believe it was post game and on the way off the field he was asked something about his feelings about this being his 100th game at Georgia. Paraphrasing, he said something like “wow, well, it feels like it’s gone real fast.” And there was a touch of wistfulness in his voice and manner. These are the glory days. Enjoy it.

Weird vibe in this thread. Lots of dudes exploring their feelings and emotions and projecting them on to the way Coach Smart adjusted his visor.

Not judging. Just making an observation.

Of course you aren't. Your comment is obviously neutral. Apparently, you just felt like taking your fingers off all the cocks to get the ticklers some keyboard exercise.

He’s not dealing with an addiction issue. It’s more of being a small-town South GA boy living in LA, living in the NFL bubble/lifestyle and all that comes with it. Kind of freaked him out and made him question what he wants for the rest of his life.
