I can’t make it any more clear than that.
Oh, you've made it clear that you want UGA to give our rivals a schedule and revenue and recruiting advantage. That's why you're here on a UGA message board criticizing UGA for doing what everyone else does. The fact that you now have to play stupid and insist that this post isn't about UGA is the hallmark of a troll.

I understand that, but it isn't real life. Might as well say you want Sanford to seat 300K people or that we had a $200M NIL budget. It's just pretend make believe whereas the teams on our upcoming schedule (the topic that this thread is all about) is very real.

If you like college athletics, then you should like those games.
One game will fund 1/2 of the athletic department budget for universities.
If you like recruiting, then you should like those games.
Getting 2s and 3s and walk ons live stadium reps. You only get so many "firsts" in life. First time on the field. First tackle. First sack. First catch. I dont care if you are watching on TV or in person. The excitement in the players and on the sidelines breathes life into anyone paying attention.
And as someone else mentioned, if you love breeding lifelong bulldawgs, then you have to love these games. Ticket prices don't accommodate families very often. The next generation of Bulldawg students and Bulldawg Nation gets their taste of Athens in these games.
Let the postseason be the postseason. Let the playoffs be the playoffs. And the rest of college football can hold on to this sport as long as possible.

D-II and D-III have college athletics without being funded by such games.
If a D-I program can’t fund its athletics without sending its football team to slaughter, it shouldn’t be a D-1 team.

So you want 60 D1 teams.
And you hate college athletics.
Just own it, man.
You care about SEC and Big10. And everyone else can go frick themselves. You are too important for them to matter.

Do you know the definition of a cupcake opponentm

Of course not. If you explicitly stated the implications of everything you posted, you'd be openly admitting that you're not a Georgia fan. Plausible deniability is the number one rule for message board trolls. The problem is that once they accumulate a body of work, the deniability is no longer plausible. That's why most trolls eventually go away and new ones pop up in their place.

Amen to that, my first UGA game was a 59-0 blowout over Coastal Carolina that was cool as heck. We sat in the nosebleeds and had the time of our lives. Blair Walsh even made a 56yd field goal.
Guess who enrolled at UGA 2 years later? :lol

The economics are what they are. On the one hand, it is helpful to smaller programs to play the sacrificial lamb a couple of times a year. On the other, it does suck that for the first quarter of the season, a significant portion of the games are irrelevant blowouts.
Most people don't begrudge the smaller schools the opportunity to make money - or for the bigger schools, the chance to do some fine tuning - but given the limited number of games in the schedule, to have two of them mean nothing is frustrating.

Not hardly.
So far, I have graduated from JUCO, D-II, SEC, and Big12 institutions, but according to you, I want to destroy the athletics of three of those.

83% of our regular season games are against P4 competition. We have zero choice or control on any of it. (Well, I guess technically we could say we aren't playing tech anymore but that's not happening).
I don't really think choosing to make it easier on ourselves in the 17% of games we actually do have a say in is a big deal. I'll certainly never get upset with winning football games. Sure the atmosphere and hype around playing an Ohio State or Miami to start the season is cooler than against WKU but let us lose those games and watch how quickly our fanbase doesn't think it's so cool anymore.

I may have been at that game. I dont remember the score. I remember watching Ray Drew step on the field for the first time as an outside linebacker. He couldn't keep his feet on the ground. He was so juiced, he was skipping into position presnap. Faking pressure presnap. He didn't know where to go. But he was going to get there 110 mph.
I love kids who commit to the G. And I love them getting those first reps in front of 90000 friends and family.

If they dont get those games, scholarships will disappear.
I guess you can love college athletics as you eliminate scholarships for 10000 athletes across the country. I feel comfortable using that as evidence that you hate student athletes. UAB has 400 scholarship athletes. Eliminate these games, and that number goes to 200. Do that for 50-100 other D1 and D2 universities. That literally is the math of what you want. But you love them.

D-II teams don’t get those games, and they have scholarships.

What is the definition of a cupcake?
It literally is an opponent who is willing to visit your university for a paycheck and not demand a return visit.
You think we are going to schedule home only games with other P4 schools?
You think season ticket holders are going to give more to the university for less on return?
We already sacrifice 1 home game per year every year with the commitment to Jacksonville and the Jackets. You want to give away more?
Or are we scheduling cupcakes who don't require the return trip.

DII rarely gets these payday
Tennessee State did get this payday and they have 322 scholarship athletes.
Albany State is the largest D2 school in Georgia and they have 300 scholarship athletes.
You don't seem to be doing the math. Just because a school has 1 student athlete seems to be all that you need to know (despite what will happen to schools as you cut their budgets in half. They will lose scholarships).

Not specifically talking about Georgia's scheduling - it's a problem across college football. Just watching three weeks of games where the average margin of victory is probably 40 points is not terribly interesting. 20% of the season is already gone, and there have only been a handful of meaningful games.
The game is what it is these days, and it's not changing any time soon, if ever. That said, I'd much rather watch more entertaining matchups, as opposed to sitting through a couple weeks of "Well, Wofford is down by 56 going into the half, but don't forget, they did gain 3 yards over their last four possessions, so maybe they'll have something to show in the third quarter"

Yeah but you get an Ap State, A Western Michigan, and plenty of others thru the years that shock the world and that is fun.
