Will it make a difference for us?

It is certainly not going to hurt, I think the early signing day kinda of negates the impact of a Natty, at least on that year, because most to recruits have already signed. The traditional February signing day would be more impacted by a Natty, but very few to recruits are still available.

Not really sure that matters much to a lot of these kids. As many that might come because of it, probably have others that will want to win one for the first time in a long time too lol

It will matter, but probably not as much as before NIL.

A lot of kids want to win championships, and before now, CKS could sell them on the potential (in the conversation every year and already been to a playoff and natty game), but now he can sell reality (been there, done that, gonna do it again with YOU playing with us).

So yeah, it'll help. But now we're competing against the A&M's of the football world where boosters are getting these kids paid big, big dollars. We'll have to do the same to whatever extent we can without being penalized by the NCAA.

Yes, but not in the way that a lot of people probably think. This was a very real make or break kind of moment for Kirby's trajectory. In 2017, it was still early on in his tenure, we overperformed expectations, and it was awesome to get to the title game. We probably should have won, but it wasn't the end of the world that we didn't, the outlook/trajectory of the program was smooth sailing ahead. Fast forward a few seasons with good results on field, but consistently coming up just a little short, and the negative recruiting has started to gain traction.

If we had fueled that with another let down, I don't think it would have meant recruiting fell through the floor or anything, just that those battles for the elite prospects that we were 50/50 or better on, likely start to tilt the other way. Couple that with NIL allowing schools that might otherwise struggle to win battles against us, and recruiting becomes at minimum a little tougher.

I don't think it outright lands you any recruits, but you're no longer just selling potential as a university/staff. You've proven that you can get it done. Equally important will be some of the draft results for guys from this team. Sometimes that gets lost in the shuffle of just how dominant Alabama has been, not just on the field, but in getting guys drafted. Now... whether they stick around/contribute in the NFL for a long time is another story altogether. But that first payday, where you get drafted matters, and Alabama's had success getting guys in at a high level. Sounds like there is confidence that we'll have a high *number* drafted. Ideally, we'll see some guys excel at the combine and work their way up the draft grades as well. Would be huge.

I think Lanning getting the HC job at Oregon after a short stint as DC here is also likely a big boon for us when it comes to future coaching pools as well.

There are a ton of positives to take away from this season outside of the obvious gigantic trophy.

I think the 1-2 punch of the National Title and then the subsequent flurry of NFL draft picks from UGA are going to allow the rich to get richer in Athens.

Players want to win and they want to go to the league. Kirby has shown he can develop the shite out of some talent, and can win the big one with said talent.

Our recruiting needed no additional help, but we will be a damn wagon for the foreseeable future on the recruiting trail. Top 5 without even trying, and we already know Kirby tries harder than anybody not named Saban on the trail.

If "1980" has annoyed us, imagine what it's been like having to deal with that as a coach, talking to recruits about a championship-caliber program while having other coaches talk about how we "waste" talent.

But often some of the big fish are still out there, come Feb.

Our 2022 class is also a mammoth of a class already, so any benefits from the title run aren't needed to help shore up that class. I laughed myself to sleep last night counting all the 5 stars and high 4's we have in '22.

We're going to be raking it in for 2023 and beyond. Not trying to get ahead of ourselves here, but 'member all those people who talked about UGA as a sleeping giant? I 'member...

The entitlement and play now mentality isn’t going away. To the extent the championship translates to money in players hands will drive the biggest decisions moving forward.

The extra funds for coaches, facilities, staff don’t hurt. With it being so long since we won, I would expect the direct financial impact of the win to be significant.

Let’s not forget Clemson and what has happened there. Luckily Kirby isn’t scared to play the portal or NIL game if it means winning.

Bama is going to be hurt the most on NIL. They are fine short term but Saban knows they can’t roll with the bigger Alumni money schools. We aren’t in great shape but far better off than Bama. USC, Texas, A&M sleeping giants.

I think nil fixes itself, we havent seen the complications from it yet. But look at JT, 6 figure nil to not play....

Business wont put up with that for long as they have boards and financial oversight.

Agree the market corrects it some.

If they aren’t playing..deals worthless. If team isn’t good, deals less valuable.

Then you tag on injuries, moral clause issues, and the fact many of these incoming athletes simply aren’t proven.

School hopping diminishes value. This is basketball with one-and-done either.

The greedy “agents” and marketing firms are the ones that really are gonna ruin it.

Rattler, Bo Nix and I am sure more.

Does Kimber not like being a Dawg or testing the NIL waters?

When I see Kirby jumping in the stands with players after the Michigan game, his excitement through the games and hugging players afterwards. Hard to put a value on being in the CFP and how recruits view that. And their parents

Kimber loved being a Dawg, but didn’t really get a fair shot before he got hurt.

I can’t blame him for transferring.
