What we know is Bobo is using Monkens offensive as far as the positions, formations and play calls. That’s a big deal as they didn’t have to learn a new system. Not even sure we have a Fullback on the roster.Monken definitively liked to establish the dive. He also used a lot of short passes in the backfield that were glorified run plays that help get players out in space. Bobo ran a lot of those same plays and people were bitching that he “was running screens”. The only actual screen play I recall was the tunnel screen to the cannon ball kid and he scored. There may have been other screen plays, but none jump out to my memory.

There were others.

The Lovett miscommunication on 3rd down was the same play with different dressing as the Mews TD (3x1 but Mews went to the RB who motioned wide).

I remember some handwringing in the middle of last season as well.

Our data set is small, so its too soon to say how this crew will do.

But after two consecutive National Championships, we should know Kirby well enough to realize that he will not accept mediocrity.

My bet is that they will figure it out.

What we know is Bobo has been a good OC. Not perfect, but good.

He spent a year learning Monken’s system.

He has adapted Monken’s system (which is different than the one he ran, though there are some similarities)

We don’t know if Smart wanted them to run certain plays.

We don’t know if a lot of the calls were scripted to see how players performed certain plays in down and distance situations.

We know with reasonable certainty that the “same old Bobo hot take” is at best ignorant and based on emotional response.

With that said, our offense didn’t look as good as they did in the first game last year. We had some guys out, but it didn’t seem as smooth. Likely a combination of reasons. They will need to get better if we want to win all our games.

Kirby said before the game, he was concerned that we would be complacent.

I remember last year, the team had a tendency to play down to the competition. Teams that are extremely (or over) confident, tend to do that.

Last year, after the Missouri game, fans were writing off the Dawgs. And guess what? We ended up winning it all.

I'm not saying we win it all this year (although we might), but my guess is we'll be pretty darn good.

Do people really think Bobo was going to open up his entire playbook for UT Martin? And he probably won’t for Ball st either. I’ll revisit after we blow out South Carolina and see who’s still bitching.

Your OP says otherwise. You look down on anyone who has an issue with the playcalling because you think you're above them. Calling someone a cünt because they have a different opinion than you says it all.

I work for a bank and am willing to admit that there are many, many people out there who don't work in banking who know more about banking than I do.

Kirby did say that the game plan was designed for him to see what the defense could do. Another reason to play 27 guys on defense.
What coach would give future opponents like Tennessee an Auburn an early peek at our playbook?

I challenged them to argue with facts. So far the only 2 were that he only does run, run, pass, punt. That was proven incorrect by facts. He was also accused of calling a run play with short clock and no timeouts. That was also shown to not be the case.
Argue the facts and it doesn’t matter who knows more.

I will add that I can understand how someone without practical field experience would assume the OC called the run play with a short clock. Since I have some practical experience in that matter, I did in fact say it could have been the QB or a bad/ missed signal from the field. It turns out a reporter confirmed it was the QB. I don’t believe I chastised the person who said that or called them names specific to that conversation.

Got out of town on a boat going to Southern Islands.
Sailing a reach a'fore a following sea.
She was making for the trades on the outside,
And the downhill run to Papeete Bay

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas.
We got eighty feet of the waterline nicely making way.
In a noisy bar in Avalon, I tried to call you,
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away.

Think about how many times I have fallen.
Spirits are using me; larger voices calling.

And you know it will.
