Okay PeterBuck how about you admit that you were wrong. On page 5 of the UT Martin game thread you said that number 6 Meaning Dom Lovett was suppose to sit on the pass from Beck.

quote:

“I thought Carson played really well, composed. I'm trying to think of the throws that you thought were just awful or erratic and I didn't see that. The one third down he admittedly threw the ball a little bit behind Dom (Lovett) thinking Dom was sitting down and Dom broke in, which Dom was correct, and he missed him on that throw,” Smart said.

This is from Kirby on that specific play so if you don't won't people questioning Bobo maybe you shouldn't throw your opinion out there if you don't know what you are talking about.

What does your post and your admonishment of peter have to do with Bobo? It seems like you're thinking this is a big "gotcha" towards peter but all this proves based on the quote from you cited from Kirby is that on the play in question there was a miscommunication between Beck and Dom, which has nothing to do with Bobo and the playcall.

Mine was a logical take based on football. Apparently, he was not supposed to settle based on what coach Smart said, so I was incorrect. I will add that what Smart says on this does support that it looked like the QB was throwing to a settle route. During the game, I recall some of the Braintrust saying it was a terrible throw, when in that case it was a bad throw based on miscommunication or more accurately a misread by Beck.
This actually kinda lends to my credibility, but Ill admit I was wrong in saying #6 was supposed to stop.

There is no way this lends to your credibility. You stated that Dom was supposed to sit. You didn't say I think Dom was supposed to sit.

You can't say one thing and it be totally opposite and it be credible.

Looks like the SEC Shorts folks even see the Bobozos for what they are.

In the other thread I pointed out how many times Bobo's offenses scored a good number but the defense lost the game anyway (hat tip Dirty for the topic). It made me think...the 2 biggest things the bobo haters latch onto for dear life and won't let go are 1)hurr durr carlton thomas up the middle THIRTEEN YEARS AGO and 2)he lost the 2014 SC game! I can't believe we ran play action!

Well that is a monumentally dumb mindset that I've discussed int he past but wanted to dive deeper into it this morning. To set the scene we are down 35-38 with 5 minutes left and have the ball around SC's 10.

-On 1st down we ran a play that Bobo had run countless times prior in his career. I have no way of knowing but I'd make a very casual guess that we'd run this AT LEAST 2 dozen times in the past 7/8 years almost always with success. We'd fake the pitch to the RB and sneak the FB coming the other way and hit him for an easy gain. I'm sure y'all might even remember some plays specifically that it's worked. So the play call itself was not crazy or hare brained, and had a proven history of success. And in this moment, SC was surely thinking we'd give it to Gurley which made it an even better call. HEre is the scene:

You can see Gurley at the bottom of the picture on the 10 yard line and has 2 defenders directly in front of his face, those guys clearly bought the pitch and had we actually given it to him he'd have his work cut out for him. In the middle of the picture you can see the FB streaking to Mason's right, with the outside receiver coming down to block the ILB leaving only a safety left and our FB open. What else do you see? I see our senior QB throwing the ball 2 feet in front of himself at the defender's feet.

#20 for SC was blocked so Hicks has an easy catch but there is 1 defender unaccounted for. Would he have scored? Probably not, it depends on how he handled that one defender. But worst case we are around the 5. Our QB singlehandedly and soley fricked this up and received an intentional grounding call. That is not on Bobo in any conceivable. way.

-2nd down we pull a couple lineman to the right and hand to Gurley. It looks like he may have some room and the pulling center is making his way out there but he misses the block and Gurley is stopped for a 4 yard gain

-3rd down Mason is looking to pass down around the 5 to a guy with 2 defenders near him, but the ball is tipped at the line.

-And finally, to top it off, Marshall Morgan who earlier in this game just set an SEC record by hitting 20 straight field goals, missed a chip shot 28 yarder that half this board could make

So to recap we have:

-A fantastic play call that would lead us to the 5 worst case or endzone best case if executed normally that our SR QB botched and backed us up
-A run to Gurley that may have gone for at least 10 had our center moved faster
-A throw into double coverage that was batted at the LOS
-A missed chip shot field goal that was less than 30 yards

....and yet, it's Bobo's fault we lost the game. Anyone who claims bobo sucks by citing the '14 SC game instantly loses any and all credibility in my book.

And just to elaborate a bit more on this game in particular. As we've already pointed out, the bobo-haters have an elephantine memory when it comes to the (perceived) negatives but the positives are forgotten instantly. Staying with this same SC game in 2014 let's look at our first TD of the game to tie it up in the 1st quarter. We put freshman RB Sony Michel out wide and throw a tunnel screen. Perfectly blocked and executed and he goes untouched for a TD. Nobody ever talks about that playcall although it was fantastic.

I am confused. Weren't you demanding Peter Buck admit he was wrong? Then he said this:
Apparently, he was not supposed to settle based on what coach Smart said, so I was incorrect.

So, what exactly were you wanting from him that he did not give you?

Maybe Peter Buck gets on your nerves. That's ok. I get on some nerves, too. But you are trying to take things way to personally. you demand something then when you get it you now say it isn't good enough.

Calm down and relax. For better or for worse we are all Georgia fans. We don't have to agree with each other on everything.

All of the top part was exactly what he should have said and if he had stopped there I would have left it alone. But then he had to add the second part. In what world are you totally 100% wrong and then say this actually lends to my credibility. So like a worm he was trying to crawl off the hook and make himself look better. This is my last post on this subject so have at it I will not respond to anything else.

Calling someone a worm and then crawling off is kinda rich.

Here's my take. With Monken calling plays I had no idea what was coming next and neither did the opposing defense. With Bobo, just like when he was here before, I can tell what play is coming from my recliner in Cumming with 4 beers in me.

I’ve never seen a worse play than the stacking 10 offensive guys in the box, which we attempted twice today and the defense stacked 11 in the box and blasted us for a 5 yard loss on both attempts.

Seriously the worst play design and call in history. How is that even a goddamn play?!?
