I use self-checkout and bag my own groceries at the grocery store every time I shop. I even take my own bags, I have never failed to ring up any item. It is doubtful this was accidently failing to ring up items.

I've bagged items, put them in a cart, then had things fall out of the bag & get mixed with unscanned items before. I could see that happening to these guys.

That said I also didn't do it again after going through the annoyance of sorting out what was in my cart. These guys might not have learned their lesson yet though. Well, I guess they have now lol

I have definitely done it at HD. Had an item underneath something or multiple of something. I have likely equally paid more for things than actual amount over time.

Not sure what these young men did but hopefully it was accidental.

Hell, I went through the cashier checkout at Publix this week. Got home and checked the bill to find out I didn't get charged for an item.

The dilemma is to forget it or to take the receipt back next time I go and pay it, but possibly getting the young cashier in trouble.

I am not going to f up that persons day or job.

That ain't how Walmart loss prevention works.

Actually, it does work that way. If they have a plain clothes security at the location and he monitors someone at self checkout take items of more than $25, they can call the police. Sounds like that’s what happened here based on reporters understanding from sources.

The police will respond. they will then ask questions of Walmart and the accused. They will not arrest unless Walmart says they want to prosecute.

It looks like Walmart wants to press charges

LINK

I’d be curious how much material they had that was paid for. Did they have a large cart and this is amongst it or did they have 120$ worth of stuff and miss 100.00 worth

There’s a post on the rant that says charges have been dropped. Posted by TylerDurden with no link. Don't know if I got trolled or not but I’m busy at work and that’s what the thread title says.

Not sure it’s been dropped yet. Think someone jumped the gun reporting that.

Hard to say you lost track of a bunch of scanned items when you only paid for a handful of items

Also, they used an EBT to buy the items they did scan, but when Walmart tried to add the stolen items to it, it was declined.

Don’t accidentally not scan $100 in misc items…EBT? That makes it worse.

Just told person with “major gifts” that came to meet w me that in no way would I be paying to make teenagers rich..especially given all the crap that keeps happening.

Name And Image should imply you have a good name and image.

Please elaborate. Does "being UGA" mean that you are okay with criminal acts?

The idea that we have to stand on one side or the other in an ongoing legal matter because one of the parties is a football player is preposterous.

The more the facts come out the more it looks likely this is a nothing burger as long as nothing else comes up (let’s see who’s EBT that card is, for one).

Either way it’s a nothing burger, but they told the officers they lost control on what they scanned when first asked. Then offered to pay. I’m simply saying, you don’t scan 6 items and “forget” the other 11.

Still saying Walmart is pressing charges for misdemeanor theft and banning them from the location for 2 years.

The EBT thing has me giggling though

They can spend more money on security, so we can do their jobs at the check out. If they can arrest you for using the self check out if you make a mistake then, why would you use it?

Yup, and UGA people who don't understand that our players are no different from our peers, UGA is just over reported because of all the media in Atlanta trying one up each other. Hell some of these douche bag reporters know it and just rationalize it like it's ok.
