Do you know anyone who is unhappy our #2 looks good? If not, I'm pretty sure it was a safe assumption.

So I wasn't the only one who noticed that. The way he starred down Branch on that TD screen gave me nightmares (A full 3 count)
That's a pick 6 against a SEC defense.

It's also where the batted passes were coming from. Definitely a good thing that Tennessee is in conerback injury hell right now.

I find absolutely no reassurance in that: Nairn. He needs that fixed ASAP if not sooner. Also I think it accounts for him not taking more strikes down the field. If you don't go through your progression how can you. Brooks Austin commented on his not waiting for his routes to come open in his breakdown.

You are way way off on this, surprisingly*. He looked first at the swing and then down field, freezing the close coverage and allowing the receivers to take the defense way down field, he then came back to the swing, with it then being set up for a 1 on 1 with the close coverage and no one else in the zip code. I am pretty sure that was a set play. And if the defensive player plays man into the backfield, branch releases on a wheel and torches him. Good playcall against the coverage and good execution.

The only problem with that logic is that ZB TD wasn’t a screen at all. He was the designated check down. Gunner was more shocked they left him that far alone than he was staring him down.

I am right and there are numerous instances where 14 does a nice job reading progressions. The TD to 16 for instance. I don’t think he was being criticized for locking in on receivers. It’s the opposite, he, on some plays, pushed down the progression to the short pass when if he gave a route another 1/2 second it was going to open. That is a result of playing within your game which I think 14 typically will do. It is very possible he evolves into seeing when those routes will open and waiting on them. Beck would try to hit those and he hit quite a few, but the further you throw and the longer you wait, the more risk you put out there.

The only thing I have seen that is not optimal is his release is kinda low. Not the end of the world, but it is.

Looked like a screen n go type play. Gunner kind of pumped fake to branch initially IIRC.

Then looks down field but marshall was on those two WR.

Came back to Branch and it worked out super well.

I was very impressed. Raiola may not have ever started at UGA.

Nice arm for sure but I wonder if he can throw a ball at NOT full speed.

I mean it’s not complex. If Gunner plays well and comes back he starts 2026 and Pug and Curtis battle for 2027.

I would imagine if Pug can get a good NIL deal he may stick around if Gunner comes back in 2026. It seems like more QBs are transferring out of a situation where they aren't on a competitive team. If he can start in 2027 that still gives him 2 years as a starter at UGA. Being a starting QB at UGA gives guys a lot of oppurtunities after football.

Puglisi is a legitimate New England boarding school/old money kid, for whatever it's worth.

I thought he looked good. Had a quick release that allowed him to get a dump off with a guy in his face. Stared down Wiley one time and it got batted down, but every young qb does that. Rifled one into tight coverage to Blackshear, who made an awesome catch with a guy draped over his back. Then he took something off the TD throw to Williams because he was wide open. I'm sure the coaches saw plenty to work on, but I was impressed.

Are you speaking for the masses now lol? If Gunner shows the first sign of trouble, an internet genius camp will form and Kirby is playing the the wrong quarterback. It's the nature of college football.

Gunner has been there for 3 years? I understand he doesn’t have a lot of game experience but at some point we have to ask the honest question, is Bobo the guy we really want developing these qbs?

Bobo developed Stafford, Murray and DJ, he can develop QB's.

The most recent of those was graduated 12 years ago.
