If you think the reason people aren’t happy with Crean is simply because he hasn’t made a tournament in 3 years then, yeah, you’ve taken up permanent residence.

literally the only reason people don't like crean is because the whole team left in a year that this was the first time in the history of basektball that they'd be able to do so with impunity. In short, people are ignorant. Or dumb. whichever you want to call it. What's reeaaaaally going to be funny is to see what those same people say if/when the transfers that we have coming in are as good or better than the people they're replacing. Then what will the narrative be?

"Well I heard on the rivals pay board that crean yelled at an assistant for not bringing his diet coke fast enough!" Someone on here literally said that. If that is the reason for a supposed "fan" to dislike a coach then that person is too stupid to even deserve any future success that following the team may bring anyway.

I’ve already said my piece on this so others can argue with you if they want (not like this thread ha any more use anyway).

But I’ll also throw out that Stricklin makes $650k a year. Tom Crean makes $3.2 million. Make of that what you will.

That's the first time I've seen anyoen actually reference that and I agree that's a major dagger for "your side" of the argument. It's actually the only thing that carries any weight at all IMO. So from that, we're supposed to infer "crean makes a shite ton more so should accomplish a shite ton more", right? I mean that's where that's headed I assume. Buuuuuuuuuuttttt:

-Crean has only had 3 years, compared to 8/9 for stricklin. So he's given more and expected more, but supposed to do it in 1/3 of the time? Sure you expect more results more quickly with your money since you want a ROI but what honestly what message does it send if we spend millions on a bball coach and we fire him after 3 years simply for not making the touruney? What coach in their right mind would come here next knowing that regardless of their salary they're gone after 3 years without a bid?
-Why the frick are we only paying strick 650? You get what you pay for MOSt of the time. In the early 90s we were literally teh kentucky basketball of SEC baseball. Until LSU passed us. Then SC passed us. Then UF passed us. Then MSU/ARK/VU passed us. Now tennessee is passing us. Why can't we go find the best baseball coach in the entire country coast to coast and apy them a mil? Teh money we make back for having an annual omaha team will more than offese the rise in salary i assure you. Just more small time thinking by our AD.

No problem, what are your goals for crean next season?

Crean needs to keep the roster from not revolting on him before the season starts. As for expectations, it should be tournament or bust.

He coaches the sport in which it should be by far the easiest to have a quick turnaround from a shitty team. If Dwyane Wade didn't drag him to the Final Four in 2003, Crean wouldn't have this job.

Nobody knows yet. He could come back another season if he wants but that’s 2 straight years of back injuries keeping him off the mound. He’s graduated so he may just call it.

Apparently even though they’ve graduated, Blaylock, Anderson, Rogers, and Cole Tate have all expressed interest in coming back under the extra COVID year but Stricklin has to see what the draft does first and how it affects the incoming class to determine how many spots we will actually have.

The end is a bittersweet feeling.

However, I’m beyond thankful for this University, this sport, the lessons, and all the people I have grown close with along the way. The end of a chapter.

I hope Jeff Altier's fat fricking arse has a heart attack with the rest of the selection committee.

Michigan-88 RPI
1-6 vs UCONN
2-8 vs Central Michigan

They had no fricking right being in the tournament.

After being shut out by Gonzaga, LSU needs extra innings to beat Central Connecticut State.

Another great selection by the fat frick from Stetson and the other committee members.

I legitimately almost threw something at the tv when one of the guys on the selection show said the South Bend Regional was one of the best in the tournament. Its easily the easiest. Notre Dame is beating UCONN 17-2 in the winners bracket after beating CM 10-0.

Yes, we should want to grow the sport but you dont sacrifice good teams for mediocre shite. These past two days of games have pretty much sucked. Other than Florida, small schools are pretty much getting destroyed repeatedly.

Good to see Campbell win a game and beat perennial power Samford 16-13 after losing to VCU yesterday 19-4. Good thing those wins against USC Upstate counted as much as our wins against Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

We live in an age of universal access to virtually every sporting event known to man, in every area of the country if not much of the developed world.

Putting unworthy teams in for the sake of regionalism doesn’t make them any more noticeable; outside of players parents and girlfriends, I can about guarantee no Michigan fans drove over to South Bend for the weekend. Nobody in Ann Arbor gives one quarter of a shite that the average SEC fan does about college baseball.

Meanwhile, I’d have been inclined to drive to Nashville or Greenville for a regional. But it’s fine, “grow the sport” by short dicking more deserving teams so Southeast Missouri State can get its arse beat before anyone even knows they’re in the tournament to begin with.

Oh don’t forget that UConn was “a really dangerous team!”

As they are losing 26-3 to Notre Dame

100%

I probably would have went to Charlotte or Greenville to see us play if we were selected. Hell, I might drive to Nashville next weekend if Vandy plays East Carolina.

Every year its either UCONN or St Johns. A really dangerous NE team thats going to cause havoc. Yawn. They almost always get dominated in the regional round and every year, talking heads try to prop them up.

UCONN would have 100% gotten a birth this year if they would have lost the championship game to Xavier because of their stellar play against Virginia(1-2), Southern Miss(1-2), and Texas Tech(0-4).

After watching baseball this weekend, I want to shite on Scott Strickin more.

I love watching college, high school, and minor league baseball much more than MLB and I follow the draft and have written a few articles for a couple small draft sites in the past.

With COVID last year, a lot of high schoolers went to college that shouldnt have and we have had a great freshman class with Bradfield(Vandy), Witt(Texas), Wallace(Arkansas), McCants(Ole Miss), etc.... Personally, I have been keeping my eyes on four guys that ended up in college this year that shouldnt have because all were highly rated and they are all catchers.

With the regular season, lets take a look at these four catchers and see how they did in their first year of college baseball.

2020 MLB DRAFT RANKINGS

FANGRAPHS
#52 Kevin Parada, Georgia Tech
#61 Corey Collins, Georgia
#116 Kyle Teel, Virginia
#171 Daniel Susac, Arizona

MLB
#48 Kevin Parada
#65 Corey Collins
#67 Daniel Susac
N/A Kyle Teel(taken out of list. took name out of draft early)

Perfect Game
#30 Kevin Parada
#60 Daniel Susac
#97 Corey Collins
#142 Kyle Teel

Kevin Parada
.319/.379/.548(927), 8 HR, 20 2B, 2 3B, 16/39 BB/K, 210 AB, 404 Put Outs
Daniel Susac
.338/.396/.603(999), 12 HR, 20 2B, 1 3B, 17/39 BB/K, 219 AB, 452 Put Outs
Kyle Teel
.318/.404/.509(913), 8 HR, 9 2B, 0 3B, 21/31 BB/K, 173 AB, 167 Put Outs
Corey Collins
.283/.382/.487(869), 8 HR, 13 2B, 1 3B, 29/58 BB/K, 191 AB, 71 Put Outs

Kevin Parada is now seen by many as the best college prospect in the draft next year. He is in a slump now, but he was one of the best players in all of college baseball through April.....Susac was named Pac12 Freshman of the year and was on the all conference team and is on some all american lists and I want to add this blurb from the press release. "He made 52 starts behind the plate, and posted a .996 fielding percentage while catching nearly 90 percent of Arizona's innings."......Teel started off the year slow and was not in the starting lineup. He started to hit and went from DH to RF and now is catching again. Third team ACC with Parada since Nelson(FSU)/Del Castillo(UM)/Davis(UL) are all in the conference.

If I were Collins, Id transfer to a team that can get all they can out of my skills and ready for the draft and its obviously not going to happen in Athens under Stricklin either hitting the ball or learning the catching position defensively.

Whether it means losing Stricklin and staff or just making changes to assistants, ive long been over how we mismanage our hitters. Stricklin and Daely both play with an arm tied behind their back in that respect, letting Kenny and the pitching staff shoulder the slack when able. I haven’t done a deep dive enough to say for certain but I’m guessing our power numbers are bottom half of the SEC for Stricklins tenure

As for the catching position, it’s pretty clear that Gonzalez is the primary catcher moving forward. Waiting to hear that Marshall is transferring out
