One thing I saw in that Falconlife thread was that someone said that Antonio Alfano was rumored to be looking at the portal, don't know if we'd be in it for him but he's an awesome prospect... Here's a post I made on the recruiting board last 9/14/18...

I’d like to hear more about this?

I thought of you when I saw that buzz... Sounds like at least for now, it's being treated as a "family issue"... We'll see if it grows into anything else. I can't see the kid being any happier in Athens behind a stacked position group than Tuscaloosa though... likely would look closer to home even if he did leave?

No idea where he'd look. But I can tell you one thing, he dominated a HS game like no other I've seen(didn't gush too much in recruiting board post cause I was jelly).

Gotta temper it with a disclaimer... he was going up against a buncha slow, small, mostly caucasian New Jersey kids.

He played OT. And pretty much all across the entire DL where ever he wanted to line up. Was also punter and PK'er.

Mighta played tuba at halftime but can't verify that...

2021 Safety Bralyn Oliver commits to the good guys.

Camped in late May and got offer on June 1... staff must have liked what they saw. Light offer list right now.

6’2 190 with 2 years left to play HS and got an offer after camping?

Yeah, I think he’s going to blow up soon

Yep.

Take him + the 5* Safety out of Florida that's rumored to be on commit watch... Lort help SEC East skill players.

Does anyone else think it’s weird that Mekhail Sherman and his sister are named after Mikhail Gorbachev and his wife?

Oh it's super weird... But I can't wait for some "Mr. Sherman, Tear Down That Wall!" gifs as he's torching opposing OL and racking up TFLs...

I don't know anything about the other TE's we're after....but there is a 0% chance they are better than Arik Gilbert. 0%.

He is a freak show and is a man among boys in this Corky Kell game. Rome is no slouch.

He is a very unique athlete.

I think we will sign two very good tight ends, but as of today, I highly doubt that Gilbert is one of them.

Think our biggest issue is we haven’t shown (so far) a commitment to put him out wide.

All his big plays tonight appear to be as a WR, not a TE.

Not one person has questioned his athletic ability. In a vacuum, you're right...

Other guys who were men amongst boys in HS: Brenton Cox and Justin Fields...

There is more to recruiting than simply amassing the best athletes. They have to fit what you want to do, they have to buy in to what you ask of them...

At this stage, Gilbert doesn't sound like he's super interested in playing TE in the manner in which UGA would need him to... Sucks because he *is* an incredibly talented dude... But if he doesn't want to play TE due to blocking responsibilities, 1) he's not going to see the field at UGA at WR without blocking either... 2) even if you get him to give consistent effort as a blocker, which WR spot are you starting him at? He's not as fast as the guys you have in the room already so he won't get great separation against SEC DBs. Ultimately, if he isn't playing TE for us, he likely doesn't see the field enough on offense to be worth it for him... Sounds like he likes what Clemson does offensively with the TE... maybe Bama or UT as well... I think I'd rather see him at UT. Easier to gameplan around.

He hasn't lined up as a TE once tonight as far as I can tell.

I've been watching this game tonight, the Rome dbs simply can't cover Gilbert. He looks about like Julio Jones did in HS, really unstoppable in this game. And he does a good job of adjusting to the ball in the air, had a deep catch a while ago that was a bit underthrown by the qb but he was able to adjust and secure the catch with a defender closing in. He's only had one drop that I have seen. I imagine UGA is after him hard, the guy on the broadcast is saying Bama is in the lead.

I get that. But no team, regardless of system, is worse for having Gilbert on the roster. If we miss he's gonna be like D Brown, D Watson, and T Lawrence.

bookmarked. If you're right, I'll eat my crow but this is just asinine.

You don't think Gilbert is going to be a big time player at a big time program? Short of injury that is as close to a given as you can get.
