Any news on Nadab Joseph from y'alls end?

Hank South CB'd him to Alabama earlier this afternoon.

I heard the family has always been strong on Alabama, that’s about it

What do y’all think about Kelee Ringo? We have equal crystal balls with Texas but ours are more recent.

As of now, even Texas mods think we lead for Ringo.

So I feel good.

We will likely push for Nadab since our numbers are very tight and he was already an initial counter when he originally signed out of HS.

Bama likely leads currently as they were the most recent visit. I’ll be watching to see if we can get him back on campus.

Wasn't Nadab Joseph in the fold already from Dec 2018? What am I missing?

Went to JUCO for academic issues. Apparently didn't play football, just went to class.

Still has UGA as his pinned tweet if that means anything anymore.

Is that how it works? I thought he would count again in 2020

Only counts once. We did the same with Tramel Walthour.

Ideal DB haul would be
K. Ringo
J. Kimber
A. Williams
N. Joseph

That would give us 4 total, 2 corners, 2 safeties, and only 3 initial counters in a number crunches class.

I thought that was because he ended up enrolling in the same calendar year.

My understanding is that by definition, a student athlete can only be an initial counter one time at a specific program... Thus, Nadab counting as an IC previously would mean he wouldn't impact numbers in the class of 2020 if we were able to get him back into the fold... On the other hand, he would take a spot in Alabama's 2020 class.

In either situation he would still have to be counted in the 85 total scholarship players limit.

This is my understanding as well, and as usual a much more thorough and lucid explanation.

The 85 man rule is easy enough to understand, but the initial counter/25-man recruiting cycle junk is a migraine waiting to happen.

In other news, the NCAA is supposedly eyeing a rule change to make transfer waivers harder to obtain in the future.

Now that the horse is out of the barn...

Not exactly. They just changed the internal guidelines for what should be sufficient to grant waivers... It's not that the rules are changing, they just got rid of some of the loose language that was allowing many of the BS waivers to get granted with talented lawyering. There was a post with the specific changes over on the Rant the other day.

extenuating vs mitigating was one change and "extraordinary" was added... Also, for medical condition of family members, players are now supposed to submit some form of documented "role in treatment/therapy" which is just fricking ridiculous.

The NCAA ends up looking even more derpy than they did if they'd just full on grant everyone one free transfer and then setup a max incoming transfers independent of the 25 IC limits.

I don't need to have an active role in my parent's "treatment" if they have cancer and a limited number of days left on this planet for it to be reasonable for me to transfer to a school closer to home so that I can see them more often.

True, but free agency would just ruin college football. You basically allow guys to do whatever they want with no repercussions. They would be allowed to break a contract, which is what a scholarship is, with no penalty. At that point you might as well ask why should a university even offer scholarship at that point. They take all of the risk with no recourse. You would have coaches off of other teams trying to recruit and steal players off of their rivals. It would be a gigantic mess.

This notion that college athletes on full scholarship are somehow mistreated is mind boggling to me, having been a full scholarship athlete. When I was an undergrad at Mercer as a baseball player, I never once felt exploited or mistreated. I felt incredibly fortunate.

Not exactly the same as a star power 5 football or basketball player.

It’s a very small percentage of college athletes that are actually being exploited, but they do exist.
