It’s a very small percentage of college athletes that are actually being exploited, but they do exist.

Some are, but not because they're not being paid by universities. They're being exploited by having restrictions placed on when they can abandon their amateur status. The reasonable solution, IMO, is to eliminate restrictions on when an amateur athlete can turn pro, enter the draft, profit from their likeness, etc., at the cost of losing their remaining college eligibility. If the NFL or any other professional league is unwilling to remove those restrictions, then the complaints and lawsuits should be directed at that league, not at colleges for being the domain of amateur athletics.

But college should be for amateur sports IMO, and the NCAA should still impose a one year delay for amateur college athletes transferring to participate at another institution. Otherwise college athletics become unmanageable. Any athlete who isn't happy with his or her options in school, or who wants to get paid for their services or likeness, should be able to take a paying job if there's a demand for their skills.

Not exactly the same as a star power 5 football or basketball player.

The problem is how do you help those rare few players without creating a laundry list of problems? College shouldn't be a get rich quick scheme. Nobody is forcing these kids to play football or basketball.

It seems to many want to blow up the current system and turn it into another pro league which I would have no interest in.

Post of the year.

Let the NFL be for professionals.
Let college athletics be for amateurs.

Are you pissed that kids cant make money? Be pissed at the employers (NFL owners) who won't pay them.

Getting mad at colleges for being colleges is the dumbest thing ever.

Trent somewhat walking back his opinion on Raym... He seems to think there may be a battle between what the kid wants and the family wanting him to stay closer to home... Decision incoming over the next couple of days with a potential announcement mid next week...

Andrew Ellis with theCam Large CB to wisconsin. Confirmation we’re sitting pretty with Gilbert or Washington?

I see it likely playing out where we land Gilbert and Theo Johnson, as Washington wants to push his recruitment all the way to the end... If both of those other 2 are ready to lock it down earlier, we likely call it a day and he ends up elsewhere (he may end up at Bama either way, as they're definitely solidly in the mix).

A couple more CBs for Milton as well, including one from Wiltfong. Sounds like he’s about ready to pop.

Wiltfong saying he thinks Tank ends up a Dawg as well.

Milton and Bigsby would be as good a non-Evans RB haul as we could hope for

Rumors abounding that Lloyd feels he may have rushed his commitment to USCe and we're still very much alive.

I'd take him and Milton and call it a day...

Not me. Tank is a good back, but Lloyd, imo, might be the #2 back in the class. He might be the clear cut #2 back in the class. Still not as good as Evans, but very, very good.

Milton's sophomore film looks pretty darn good, too. Much better than his Junior film.

What’s up with UF commit DT Gervon Dexter?

He committed in Nov but some Gats are nervous we’ll flip him. He’s said he’s “1000%” Gator bc “it just feels like home” but, apparently, his recruiting activity for UF has tapered off. And he’s still gonna visit other schools iirc.

Are we legit trying to flip this kid or just tying up Gator resources & worrying their fans for fun?

We are trying to flip him. I don't think there is a world where we'd be blowing significant time/resources *just* to tie up Gator resources as well. That'd be just silly.

Interestingly, I've heard that if we take him, we like him coming off the edge as a 5T... Not sure where he fits into the Gator's defensive scheme.

He looks like a hard commit to the Gators & he’s just enjoying the whole recruiting process. Who knows, maybe he’s trolling us a little on Mullen’s behalf. Regardless, it’s enjoyable seeing how Kirby’s really messed with UF fans. The first whisper of GA’s interest in Gervon or Gervon’s interest in GA & they’re like “He gone” and “I’m so tired of this shite.” Lol, Gators. All your base are belong to us.

Would be my guess. Milton for sure. The second one is a mystery.

Edit: might be Ringo
