It was basically good 02-05, 2007, 2011, and 2012. The rest were very meh.

Nice pickup with McIntosh. As others have said, RB isn't a position of need at the moment, so while having Emery would be nice, it would be a somewhat meaningless addition to the class. McIntosh is still a top 10 back and could actually fulfill a role we need to contribute. Having a bigger back on the goal line will hopefully pay off.

This! Swift was a lowly 4 star also. I trust Kirby on his offers over you experts here. No offense, just the truth.
You guys are also forgetting the O line we SHOULD have will be able to make a lot of serviceable backs look good. Good runs by the backs don’t exist in a vacuum.

Swift was the #4 RB and #33 overall player on 247 Composite...

No one that I can see is being overly critical of McIntosh. Many have stated that he is a lesser prospect than John Emery, which is true by any measure available at this stage.
There is a chance that McIntosh will be a better college player, but the odds are against it.
You always seem to come into the thread angry. Relax brother.

Sony was well ahead of Chubb.
True. I considered that comparison as well, but I really think those two guys turned out to be pretty equal in their careers. They were just better at different things. But it does speak to how underrated Chubb was.

Maybe I am missing the joke on the gif...
I simply mean that statistically, 5 star players are more likely to pan out as elite talents than 4 star players. Furthermore, there is a difference between top 50 guys that are 4 stars and top 300 guys that are 4 stars.
Don't mean that as a knock on any current or future players, but facts are facts and the recruiting industry does a pretty good job of assessing prospects.

RB recruiting since 2010
2010-Ken Malcome #150 overall, #11 RB
2011-isaiah Crowell #6 overall, #1 RB
2012-Keith Marshall #12 overall, #1 APB
2012-Todd Gurley #72 overall, #6 RB
2013-Aj Turman #229, #18 RB
2014-Sony Michel #20 overall, #3 RB
2014-Nick Chubb #33 overall, #5 RB
2016-Elijah Holyfield, #162 overall, #6 RB
2016-Brian Herrian #880 overall, #80 RB
2017-D'Andre Swift #33 overall, #4 RB
2018-Zamir White #9 overall, #1 RB
2018-James Cook #41 overall, #3 APB
There seems to be a lot of revisionist history in here. All of our great backs have been great high school talents, and highly rated.
This McIntosh kid is about the same prospect as Holyfield was(ranking wise). He can definitely be a good back, but there are also reasons why we were going after other backs before him, and if we didnt put the full court press on him, we could have been left out all together at the RB position.

Trayveon Williams, Benny Snell, Ke'Shawn Vaughn, and Elijah Holyfield all are playing against the odds. The lowest rated RB out of high school in the conference, Josh Jacobs shouldn't even be at a program like Bama. I haven't seen any film on McIntosh or heard anything about him until a few days ago, but I see that he have an impressive offer list. We don't know how Zeus will play after 2 ACL's so he may be the featured back in a couple of years. At 6'1 over 215LBs, McIntosh might be a big bruiser type back. That along with a monster Oline can't be a bad thing. I trust the RB coaches to get him SEC ready.

Swift was upgraded to 5 star composite after signing day. If you look at our 2017 class on 247 or on the 247 team talent rankings, he's listed as a 5 star.

Brother that ain’t even remote disagreement much less anger. You kids are so fragile these days it’s embarassing. It was a tongue-in-cheek comment and that is ALL it was. Period. Honestly sorry if it disturbed anyone.

I looked up Tae Crowder for a comparison as well.
247 had him as a wide receiver as that may have been about half of his high school production.
1868 nationally and the 221st best WR

Will vastly underrated dj Williams or Noah Cain be the 2nd back we take? I firmly believe Dell will take 2 backs this class.

I personally hope it's DJ. Ratings will catch up, but I like him a little better than McIntosh. Cain has taken a bit of a step back it seems.

Take a look at the crop of backs for 2020.
I'd much rather take one back in 2019 to be able to potentially grab two top 5 caliber backs next cycle.
I don't think ANY of the backs we are in play for right now are worth losing a spot for a Tank Bigsby, Zach Evans, etc type prospect next year.
I would feel differently if we were in a roster crunch, but we aren't.

Those are the exceptions, not the rule. And Holyfied was the #6 rb in the class so it's not a great example.
