It’s not about getting the number 1 class. It’s just a meaningless title however it’s a great recruiting tool. Hey look, we got the number 1 class last year and played for a national title
We will be able to say that. We cannot be passed in Rivals.

Caleb Johnson SDE - He is a 3 star guy. Is the back up plan if Quay sticks with BAMA or if someone doesn’t qualify? I think he is a UT target from what I can gather.
I think so

Taking someone away from UT is always a good idea, so long as we have room. I'm with everyone else who thinks Quay is going to the last folks who see him.

He may be going to UT from what I understand. I believe he is visiting Auburn this weekend. His recruitment seems to be taking off late, so good for him

The Kirby copter was in Columbus today at Northside high school.
Saw he was also at Troup Co. in LaGrange yesterday too...

I was right on Trey Hill. He got mauled. He was dropped like 70 spots. It is what caused OSU to move slightly ahead of us in the composite rankings. There is no reason in the world for him to move down. He was an alpha dog at the Army All American game. They are just trying to get people interested in a UGA and OSU battle on signing day 2

The reason -
He's going to have to maintain his weight and slim down. They think he's too large (fat) . The same thing was said about Salyer however they said Salyer wears the weight better and is still extremely good at that size because they both came in over 350lbs.
As far as his playing ability, he's a stud and they know it. Salyer and Hill on the inside with Mays, Wilson and Thomas on the outside. Good looking group.

It's not going to matter for this class, as I think we'll sign a full class no matter what (and we were definitely full last year as well), but, I recall a lot of speculation that the recruiting rule changes would mean an end to "back counting" of early enrollees... I'd asked for links all over the place and no one ever was able to really point to the specific language. According to Wiltfong in an article that I missed until now though, it looks like that was inaccurate:

Assuming Wiltfong is correct (and this is kind of his job to know):
Which would mean essentially no change to EE's back counting.
It does become of interest in this class for us as far as Nadab Joseph is concerned though, as it does spell out that if he doesn't qual, we lose that spot (I believe most of us knew this, but have seen some debate elsewhere.
Anyways... thought it was interesting. Apparently there was a thread about it over on the LSU boards, but I know I don't venture over there often. LINK

The answer is simple: up to five early enrollees are allowed to count toward the previous class.
Which would mean essentially no change to EE's back counting.

However, there is a new rule in place where you can’t get a spot from a non-qualifier back. Say a prospect signs on Dec. 20, the date of the Early Signing Period, but fails to meet the academic requirements later to get into school. That young man still counts towards the 25. In the past a school would get that counter back and could just go add a JUCO prospect in June, elevate a greyshirt or even take a high school senior that is still out there unsigned. If that prospect fails to qualify under the new rule, the school doesn’t get that spot back. This new rule — as some have incorrectly feared — does not mean you can't sign over 25 players. You simply need to have wiggle room created via early enrollees, as always — you just can't take too many risks and lose that initial counter.
Anyways... thought it was interesting. Apparently there was a thread about it over on the LSU boards, but I know I don't venture over there often. LINK

They certainly all look the part. I think it was intriguing he dropped just enough to let OSU pass us though. With only 4-5 spots left, I am still real interested in signing day 2 though.

They did get a commitment from another player yesterday, too, though. That probably had as much to do with their passing us as anything. I think the kid was a 4*?
ETA
Having a hard time finding it. Maybe I was dreaming?

How many guys do you think we sign 24 or 25? This has been hotly debated in all our boards. I think we sign 25 because usually it all works itself out.

I think most of the debate was due to Marvin's "blueshirt" originally... *but* the trick is that because the non-qualifier change wasn't implemented until *this* year, we were able to back count Marvin into Wyatt's vacated spot for last class (something we can't do in the future).
I think we will sign 25 assuming all of our top targets pick us. I could see us only signing 24 if we missed on more guys than anticipated... that would leave a spot open for a late qualifier/add (Walthour maybe) or a back counted spot for 2019 where there is a plethora of talent as well.

Always someone with good enough info here to not go to that site/rivals/espn and pay money to see info everyone will see by Signing Day. All they are providing is early access and discussion which can be had here or any other free UGA discussion board.

Hadn’t seen it over here yet, but ESPN just release their final rankings. They only rated about 15 guys 5 stars, They rated White as a 4 star. That service is such a joke. We only have 2 5 stars according to them Cox and Fields. They should get out of recruiting because they really suck at it.

247 shows me CBs for free. Just sign in--you don't have to pay.

Looks like ESPN distributed the shaft evenly to everyone. Shouldn't affect the composite rankings.

Oh I know and I would never pay for info...I love UGA but just don't care that much about recruiting insiders.
I did like the idea of viewing what experts thought we would get just to see if it lined up with what I read here and elsewhere.
Oh well. Now the lost the little traffic they did have from myself and, im sure, many many others who would check on the CB's.
It sure as hell will not have the intended effect.
