He will get playing time, but we signed a bunch of corners in 2017. I would hope one of them would be ready

Have we recruited someone to fill the Wimms role or are we relying on the guy tearing up scout team?

Godwin, Ridley, Hardman

2017 signees that will get their chance include Tyler Simmons, Jeremiah Holloman, Trey Blount, and Matt Landers.

The 2018 guys could crack the depth chart, but its also likely that they take the route of the class of 17, and get spot duty, and shine on special teams.

Depth is pretty damn good at the WR position.

Ridley has the size to be the the guy. Godwin and Hardman don't though they're great. I meant someone big who could go up and get those back shoulder balls. I've heard a lot of Matt Landers

Think it's going to be hard to find a guy like Wims. There just aren't that many guys out there with his skill set.

That being said, I do feel like Wims had a few more drops towards the end of the season after catching absolutely everything at the beginning of the year. Landers is probably the best option to fill that role with his size, but he still probably needs to get a little stronger.

Finding someone with that ability isnt easy. Hell, its been since AJ(Maybe) since we had another receiver that could do that, and before that? Maybe Fred Gibson?

Landers has the size, but just because you are big, doesnt mean you have the body control, and hands to do the stuff that Wims could do.

I think Holloman is the most talented receiver on the team, and he is 6'2, but we wont really know what he can do until he is on the field.

Holloman has the talent to be elite. I just don't know how sure handed he is. If he is.................

I like Holloman but I really really like Mecole Hardman. Kid can get deep on anybody. Not the same type of player of course but with Godwin and Hardman running routes and Riley stepping up we could actually become a passing offense next season. I expect Fromm to put up 3500 next year and the running game to go more 50/50 mix instead of 70/30.

I'm not getting where this concern is coming from. Our receiving two-deep is pretty great looking to me.

Nauta or Woerner can do both the Y and/or A, inside or the slot, separately or on the field at the same time, and both are huge mismatches with as athletic and sure-handed as they are. How about we just put these guys out there more when we need to up the mid layer possession percentage.

Ridley has the ability to take over Wims role from the X, with Simmons and Holloman behind him.

Godwin in the Y or Z with Landers and Chigbu behind him. (even Stanley too?)

And Hardman in the Slot or X with Crumpton behind him.

I'm not sure what you guys think we're missing. Five of these guys are at least 6'2 (Chigbu, Stanley, Simmons, Holloman, and Ridley), and Landers, Woerner, and Nauta are all 6'4-6'5. And the other 3 are all 4.3x speed athletic freaks.

Wims was virtually unknown to us last year. Someone will step up and become Jake's goto guy this next year. Probably Ridley and Nauta.

We want the wr from Texas for that role.

Guys on scout team play against our starters. You do know that, right?

If we could get Sandidge, I would take him before a Bush. I worry a lot more about DLine. We need more elite Dlineman. I think we are a little deficient in elite corners as well. Let’s see what the group we signed in 17 can do

For the majority of the season, I just thought Wims was a frisbee catching dog type receiver, but after the horizontal diving TD in the 4Q of the Rose Bowl, where he muscled the ball away from the DB as he fell to the ground to maintain possession, he really separated himself as an elite receiver.

We need someone whose physicality can match Wims' in that department.
