Taking a look at potential hosts
National Seed Close to Locks
Florida-#1 RPI, 21-7 vs top 50
Stanford-#2 RPI, 10-3 vs top 50
Arkansas-#3 RPI, 15-8 vs top 50
Hosting Locks, Close to National Seeds
North Carolina-#4 RPI, 9-9 vs top 50
Texas Tech-#5 RPI, 11-10 vs top 50
Oregon State-#8 RPI, 5-3 vs top 50
Florida State-#11 RPI, 14-8 vs top 50
Drivers Seat for Hosting
Georgia-#6 RPI, 12-7 vs top 50
Auburn-#7 RPI, 11-12 vs top 50
Clemson-#9 RPI, 8-8 vs top 50
Ole Miss-#10 RPI, 10-9 vs top 50
North Carolina State-#15 RPI, 8-8 vs top 50
In Contention for Hosting
UCONN-#13 RPI, 8-5 vs top 50
Kentucky-#14 RPI, 13-11 vs top 50
Texas A&M-#16 RPI, 7-8 vs top 50
East Carolina-#17, 8-5 vs top 50
Oklahoma State-#19 RPI, 8-6 vs top 50
Duke-#21 RPI, 4-5 vs top 50
Texas-#24 RPI, 11-10 vs top 50
UCLA-#26 RPI, 7-5 vs top 50
Coastal Carolina-#28 RPI, 6-5 vs top 50
Northern Teams
Minnesota-#20 RPI, 7-5 vs top 50
Northeastern-#22 RPI, 5-9 vs top 50
Indiana-#25 RPI, 2-4 vs top 50
Saint John's-#41 RPI, 6-4 vs top 50
Florida Teams
Stetson-#12 RPI, 5-3 vs top 50
Jacksonville-#18, 6-7 vs top 50
South Florida-#29 RPI, 9-9 vs top 50
So thats 27 teams right now I have listed as potential hosts. 7 teams that are pretty much locks, and another 5 that are close. The only problem that almost all of those teams are southern teams, and yes the best baseball is in the south right now, but the NCAA is going to try and even things out in the end, so teams like Georgia, Ole Miss, Auburn, Clemson, and North Carolina state could be removed for teams in other parts of the country.
The north will get at least one host and thats UCONN right now, and Minnesota is getting hot at the right moment, so I could definitely see them sliding in. That's 14 teams, and more than likely either Oklahoma State, UCLA, or Texas will host, and thats one more team thats not directly in the south.
The last spot? Who knows. Kentucky or Coastal seems likely right now.

Dawgs up 5-0 through 3 innings.

I was briefly watching TT/TX game and they had UGA as their #7 national seed

I would be shocked if we end up a national seed. Would have to win one or both series against Arkansas and Florida to happen. I think we can take 1 game from each of them but not confident we win either series

I mean, I just checked RPI, and we were #6 with 12-7 against the top 50.
Just checked it again after our win, #4 RPI and 15-7 vs the top 50 since we added another win against Missouri and Tech moved back into the top 50.
Im not saying we are getting a national seed, but even if we crap the bed against Florida and Arkansas, there's a good chance we have 30 top 50 games, and at least .500 will be wins, so we will more than likely host.

We suck. Missouri is horrible. A good team, heck - an average team, would’ve won four games in that three game stretch.

Obviously 1st and foremost we suck.
But if we don’t host that would be an incredibly poor decision by the committee based on our resume.

It almost seems like we're a shoo in to host, unless we get swept in these last 2 series.
Heck there are some sites out there having us slip into a national seed, which would be incredible.

If we go 1-2, 1-2 and win a couple in the SECt, we should still host

We will Sweep Florida, they'll have everything wrapped up by our series.

No chance we sweep Florida. We're horrible.

I we can somehow go 2-2 this week, it would be a huge win.
Right now, I have us as the #7 seed after the weekend.
1.Florida
2.Stanford
3.North Carolina
4.Arkansas
5.Oregon State
6.Florida State
7.Georgia
8.Texas Tech
That would probably match us with Clemson as the 10 seed.

First things first, need to sweep Tech. Take 1 of 3 from Florida, beat Presbyterian, then fight like hell to win the series over Arkansas. Puts us at 38 wins and probably #2 in the sec which gets us a bye for the tournament. Win a game or two there and that’s how you become a national seed

Would put us #3, which is still a bye. If we go 3-3 in our last two series, we will get a bye in the SECt and would be a host for sure and potentially a national seed.

We should be a host unless we absolutely flame out in the final 2 weeks. The polls are stupid. Selection committee looks at RPI and ours is fantastic. All of this despite the fact that we SUCK and should FIRE STRICKLIN.

D1 baseball is a joke. They have had us out of the polls for about a month now, and since we are looking like close to a lock to be a host, and a descent shot to be a top seed, they put us back in the poll at #16 this week.
Its a joke that teams like Minnesota, Duke, and Southern Miss are all ahead of us in the polls. Between them, they have 17 wins against the top 50 in RPI. Georgia has 15(which is the 4th most in college baseball).
