FWIW...It's 5:12pm EST and we haven't seen any news on any new WR offers going out, hopefully that's a good thing...

Besides the family connection, Auburn doesn't make sense for Slayton if he's determined to play WR? UGA is in big need at WR and they have the #1 QB in the country coming in next year. Plus, Auburn is much heavier on the run than UGA, ratio wise.

Only other thing I've got is this post from elsewhere...

Slayton committing at 6:20a.m. central time bodes well for UGA...
If he were flipping, it seems odd that he would do so at a time when most Auburn fans aren't even awake yet to stand in line at the unemployment office...

Dang Slayton's mom is making a big deal about her brother playing there 30 years ago. But I have a feeling he sticks with the good guys. Playing time big factor and we need WRs

Both teams need WR's, although Georgia will probably spread the ball around more and use more receivers. Next year is probably a wash for his decision, but I have little doubt that in his later years Schottenheimer will run a much more pass friendly offense than Auburn.
But, when there are family considerations, I'm not sure how much difference any of that makes. Hopefully it matters in the final decision.

Brad Stewart committed to Tech
I watched Stewart's film and he's a fine HS receiver, but I just don't see him being that effective in college. That said, I guess if we miss on Slayton he could get a late call from CMR. I hope it doesn't come to that, especially since Stewart is a risk to go pro in baseball. We already tried that with Xavier Avery and it was a wasted LOI.

Where did the quote about central time come from? I would be more confident if the statement said Eastern Standard Time.

Both schools definitely need wrs. I'd also like to add that Malzahn's offense isn't soley predicated around the run. A lack of a true passing qb had to have had a big influence on the play calling. That being said I think Slayton sticks to his commitment.

Well, everything is relative but Georgia has been a more prolific passing offense under Richt than Malzahn's teams at Auburn and Arkansas. Some of those teams Malzahn had running qb's, some weren't, but he's always been pretty consistent around 180 to 200 ypg. Here's the comparison:
Malzahn 6 seasons, average 189 ypg passing
Richt 14 seasons, average 240 ypg passing.
Richt has 10 seasons at UGA with more passing yardage than Malzahn's best year.
That only includes their years in SEC competition. Malzahn had higher passing yardage at Tulsa and Arky State, but that's an entirely different caliber of defensive football.

He was OC one season under Butt he came with all his high school kids

I beg to differ. Malzahn was the offensive coordinator at Arkansas in 2006.

GACS isn't really used to having guys wait this late to choose. Even King went with UGA early.

Anyone have a sticky where jlrjrjrjr was convinced that Trent was going to Auburn? Might need to break it out tomorrow
