Roquan Smith just picked up a CB to Michigan. WTF?

He has said he has interest in them. Not surprising although him leaving the state would shock me but he is keeping his options open.

Just my opinion on Van Jefferson, I think he goes somewhere else due to the depth at WR. He wants to be #1 but if I recall didn't get a ball thrown his way at the All-Star game so I assume he is worried he won't see the field for us. Especially after his recent comments about wanting the ball and such. Just my $0.02..

Why would that cause him to look elsewhere? Mitchell has never been the most dependable guy, so it's not inconceivable to see Jefferson coming in and being the guy right away. Our WR depth is as thin as anyone else's.

I especially don't understand his Florida visit. I can't name one WR who has come out of Florida post-Tebow, and now he is considering catching passes from Treon?

At Georgia, he would have a year (maybe two) catching balls from a cannon (Ramsey) before Eason comes in. Passes will be flying everywhere in Athens for the next few years...come get a piece of the action, Van!

It seems to me like he's looking at spread offenses more than pro-style. I have NO earthly idea why. Ole Miss, Florida, & Oklahoma all run more spread than pro-style currently and I guess he thinks he will get more touches in those systems versus Chubb getting a ton of handoffs and other WRs getting some passes.

Maybe he loves blocking for running QBs more than blocking for Chubb and Michel on the edge??

I wonder if the fact that we ran the ball 64% of the time last year had anything to do with him looking around.

I don't see us running 60%+, next year. If folks were aggravated with CMB's "balanced" approach, I fully expect the mudslingers to have a field day as the stats "regress" closer to 50/50.

Good point.

I don't think we keep that ratio is 2015. We will run it more than we pass it, but Mason's style lent itself to pounding the rock relentlessly. When your QB isn't a weapon, you use the pass to set up the run or catch them off guard. With the QBs coming down the pipe, I think we will see a little more balance.

At least I hope we do. As great as Chubb is, there's a reason everyone was in awe of the workload he took on. You don't do that for too long without injuries.

Yeah, I forgot where I read that, maybe on GTP, but only 2 other teams have run at that rate and neither repeated it.

Definitely true about lightening Chubb's workload. I don't want to see him run into the ground a la Lattimore.

A healthy Michel will go a long way to helping Chubb. Michel is a deadly offensive weapon in his own right and will keep Chubb off the field a decent amount.

These idiots see that a kid goes on a visit and try to get in ahead of the curve. They have no inside info, just, "well he's visiting Michigan so he's going to sign with Michigan".

I pay little to no attention to the CBs unless it's somebody like Rusty or Jake.

Since you're here, do you have any thoughts on Schottenheimer? He apparently interviewed with Saban a few years ago for OC position, but decided to remain in the NFL at that time.

I was stoked about the possible hire when Saban was considering it because of his style he employs...he will find an exceptional OL coach and mash on guys with the run game. Totally physical type of O from the WRs run blocking down to the FB in an I which he likes to run its old school smash mouth football on Offense.

The NFL pedigree will help a lot with recruiting he just has to make those connections and you know he likely has the passion to get back in it because of his absence. He doesn't have a lot of experience with recruiting as an OC at a school but the assistants can help him tremendously with that. He is a tireless worker from all accounts and the pieces are there for sure to run his type of offense, maybe taller more athletic WRs (he likes hauses at WR that are physical and athletic). He uses more of a set-up and reaction type of gameplan than attacking weaknesses gp that you tend to see a lot of college OCs use. He's very similar to Coach Mac that liked to physically dominate a team into submission. I really like the hire...Chubb and Michel should benefit greatly.

Yes. Apparently waited on the hire and/or considering other options.

Then as far as I'm concerned, that's a decommittment and we didn't want him anyway.

Why? The kid should wait to see who the hire was gonna be.

Crow or someone in the know, what's the feeling for Mecole Hardman? He is supposedly a 4* DB from Elbert County who loves UGA. If this had been posted before, then my apologies for not going back far enough to see it...

Mecole is 100% Tennessee. Im from Elbert County, and pretty much everyone knows he is going there. He will get the chance to play the slot in Knoxville. Id love to have him in Athens, but the kid cannot stay healthy. He missed the playoffs as a freshman. He missed a couple of games in his sophomore year, and he missed half of his junior year.

Jefferson said he wants to learn more about Schottenheimer before making his final commitment. VJ said that if Schott doesn't visit him at school, he'll make the trip down to Athens to learn what our schemes will be while he's in school. Jefferson has said he wants to be in a predominantly passing offense, which we will not be next year. That could hurt us, but at the same time Schott should sell the hell out of Eason and the opportunity Jefferson will have to play with the top QB in the nation for multiple years. I'd guess it's 75/25 in favor of the good guys right now.

Not sure how any of that would change with/without Bobo.

Does Jefferson think we'll run the ball MORE than what Bobo did?

Not calling you a liar, just saying that VJ's response, according to you, doesn't make sense.
