4.32 shuttle isn't too bad so it seems he's more quick than fast. Probably a good redzone and possession guy versus a burner deep threat..
At 6'5" I would think he would be a GREAT red zone target, and you don't HAVE to be a burner once in the red zone. But 4.7? I HAVE to believe somebody input the time incorrectly.

Hell, my old arse can run a 4.7...

I think you are correct about something being typo'd. Lawrence Cager Hudl
4.5 on here and I know it's not official but I would be inclined to believe a 4* would be a 4.5

I ran a 4.8 back in 1974, and was considered fairly fast. I remember when a kid was timed at 4.5 and everybody thought it was insanely fast. Now? Insanely average! Maybe a little faster than average, but not eye poppingly fast like it was then.

4.7 is solid for a kid that big and lanky

WR position - I predict the Dawgs are gonna try to drop Chigbu for Brandon Singleton
Why would we do that?

If he can put 20-30 more lbs on without losing the speed he could be a monster.

I was wondering about that, so I looked at some oher kids tha size and most were in the 4.4-4.5 range. Anyway, it appears as if he MIGHT be in the 4.5 range, too. I'm sure the coaches will time him, regardless.

"I don't know how many yards or how many receptions I have exactly. I had eight receiving touchdowns through 10 games. I felt like my speed really improved from last season because I have always had size and been physical, but I run a 4.5 now."

Yeah, that's what they report, but they aren't actually that fast. HS coaches' hand timing aren't exactly reliable.
Christian Owens said he ran a 4.5 iirc, and he'd struggle to break 5.0 based on his film

That's true. Coaches tend to fudge on times and size.

Y'all make to big of a deal about 40 times. There are so many tricks and everybody teaches it different. It is not a representation of how a kid can play or how fast he can play.
I understand its a barometer to determine someone's overall explosion rate but it doesn't translate. Bryan Evans was a 4.3 guy supposedly and he might have been the worst DB in the CMR era.
A lot of times 40 times aren't accurate. They said a fat Matthew Stafford ran a 4.7 out of high school and at the Combine he ran a 4.81. How does he get slower? Hell Tom Brady ran a 5.2 and Jerry Rice ran a 4.71.

Jonathon Rumph is the receiver Georgia needs but not the one available to play right now. So we'll offer this other kid. Because he can take it.

While true, times a re a piece of the puzzle. If a kid is a scorcher but has bad hands who wants him? However, if a kid is slow and can't get separation it is a problem, too. It all fits together....times, route running, hands, size...they are all important, but none tell the whole story.

To be fair, most kids who are "clocked" now-days at at 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 are all done so by hand and it's wildly inaccurate. The same kids when timed with a laser end up in the 4.6-4.7 range, which is still considered NFL-type speed. Remember when everyone was going nuts years ago because Vance Cuff was timed at 4.2 and Cornelius Washington was 270 lbs and timed at 4.35? Yeah, hand timed. Washington was clocked around 4.6 at the combine (still freakishly fast for a dude that size).
