Shouldn't there be a lankier and slightly darker kid out of Florida or a JUCO that we could take?
ETA- nevermind, I just looked at his pictures, he is lanky enough and tall enough and black enough.

Well we missed out on Kitt. We got Shakkeneth or whatever at DN. Malone is gonna be a stud but yea I wouldn't mind trying to go after some Juco WR.

Serious Answer-
In a 3-4, you have 3 defensive lineman. They each need a backup. Then you need to have a 3rd string in the case of injuries, suspensions, or other general processing procedures.
You need 9 on the roster, minimum at all times.
You recruit 4 per year minimum.
What if Grantham leaves next year and a new DC comes in with a 4-3 base, then you are damn glad you have 12+ guys on the roster.
Finally, as has already been stated, we only have 1 commit on DL and 1 more allegedly in the bag, but it's only July.
Give me 5 more DL commitments, then we can talk about "Jeez, how many DL do we need?"

Right now we have Russell and Baker (who moves to OL soon after he gets to campus, I'd bet). A lot of folks will be very surprised if we don't add Gaillard this coming weekend. That would be 2-3 DL. We currently have 9 guys on scholarship and will lose at least 1, and will likely lose 3-4 the year after. We only brought in 3 (one JUCO) last year and we need 4 or 5 this year.

To be honest, he might not have the opportunity to wait that long. Miller is deciding soon. I don't know when Evans commits, but if Miller commits to us, the pressure will be on. We'll have a spot for Carter until the end.
