I think that’s a mistake. Was he expected to leave?

I'm ok with it. The only one of our receivers that would consistently catch anything in his catch radius was Jhamon Ausbon. I personally hope Kendrick Rogers leaves as well.

It's hard to catch a ball that is thrown 5 feet over your head every time.

Both of those guys have great athletic ability, but I'm not sure they're NFL-ready. I wonder if Jimbo is just letting Davis process himself out in order to make space?

Mistake in what regard? Is he magically going to greatly increase his draft stock next year? Unlikely. Q was a good, not great WR at A&M. Thankful for his contributions and hoping for his success. He'll always be remembered for the :01 catch against LSU.

Here's the sad truth: If Davis, Ausbon or Rogers are on the field, Mond will default to them above anyone else who might be wide open. The only way to force Mond to look at other receivers is for them to be gone.

We really need Rogers and Buckley to leave as well.

Mistake in that I doubt he gets drafted. Don’t see the point in him declaring unless he plans to come back and get his degree I guess.

I think this is spot on. He reminds me a lot of Nwatchuku (or however you spell his name) from a few years back. Very good, solid receiver but not the main guy (he was behind Evans and Swope).

And he’s not likely to improve his stock next year with Mond still at QB so why not give the NFL a shot. And his catch in the LSU game to force overtime will always be one of A&M’s most clutch catches.

Q. Davis has nothing left to prove. He has his degree, and his QB is wildly inconsistent. I think he is making the right decision for himself. Wish Rogers would declare as well

Oh, didn’t realize he had his degree. Go ahead then, have at it.

So let's recap based on the OP's list:

quote:

Vernon Jackson (confirmed)
Deneric Prince (confirmed)
Roshaaud Paul (confirmed)
Moses Reynolds (confirmed)
Derrick Tucker (not confirmed yet but off the roster)
Brian Johnson (confirmed)

quote:

Additionally, Justin Madubuike and Quartney Davis are both expected to declare for the draft.

Confirmed

quote:

James Foster
Jacob Kibodi (confirmed)
Camron Horry (confirmed)
Riley Anderson
Camron Buckley
Trayvon Fuller
Hezekiah Jones
Colten Blanton
Kellen Diesch (confirmed)

quote:

I’ve been told a several transfer dark horses after the spring are Jalen Preston (with Davis likely gone and two other receivers probably transferring, he likely will never play if he can’t secure a spot this spring), Caleb Chapman (same reason), Grayson Reed and most surprisingly Jashaun Corbin (with the emergence of Spiller and Richardson, he may quickly find his carries limited if we bring in 2-3 backs in this class). Word is Blumrick will stick it out and try to find a position to utilize his athleticism.

With Beal taking himself off the portal, the OP has hit every single one of his predictions so far.

I'm hoping that with Buckley and Q Davis gone, that Preston and Wright step up during the Spring. If they don't, then their time might run out at A&M.

And I think both can absolutely do so

Kendrick Rogers and his propensity to catch more flags than footballs really needs to leave as well.

I don't think it says anything about the players, but more about the transfer portal. I think we need more of a rotation at WR to avoid players transferring

Would love to see what Preston and Wright bring to the table next year. We certainly already know what Rogers brings. Though, to be fair, Ausbon was more of a liability before this past season. Rogers could actually improve

But I don't want to see Preston transfer without at least a shot on the field first

Rogers got worse. Ausbon was hurt most of last season.

Rogers has the skillset to be amazing, but the work ethic seems to be lacking
